:) ok, il start by saying, im 14 and dont have THAT much money, however, its my birthday and november and it christmas at christmas, soo over the 2 + other saved up money i hope to get...

300 - 350 £

Now i know its very early to be thinking about this but to be honest im a little bored..

My pc as it stands now is

2.53GHz P4 (overclocked to 2.7(couldnt get any higher  )

Nvidia fx 5200 (not sure on details)

512 (DDR SDRAM) PC2700

330V PSU

ECS L4S8A2

80 gig Maxtor HDD

Im thinking,

new: Motherboard and processor, PSU, Graphics card, and RAM

but leaving one or another out to fit in with the buget is always an option...

so really im asking does anyone know of any good shops for one thing but not another and i also need advice on what strictly needs upgraded and what is not a priority

thanks :)

If you play a lot of games then a new graphics card and more RAM would be good. Your processor & MB are fine, just my opinion.

Anothe HDD would be useful for backing up :) I have two and could never go back to just having the one.

I had a GFX 5200 in this PC when I bought it and it did struggle playing the latest games. (well, tomb Raider, Angel of darkness to name one )

I play alot of games, so your thinking the modo and processor are fine,

so another HDD, graphics card,512 more ram, and a New PSU?

That's what I'll buy. But try and hold back for the January sales. The longer you leave it the cheaper it will be  the more you can buy.

By buying more ram your games will load faster (UT2004 a example) a better graphics card will make it look really good, but a decent power supply is a must when you upgrade. I've got a 550 watt supply.

Remember also by having a better graphics card you will also generate more heat, so look at cooling also. Check this thread out for the hassle I got by just upgrading the card.

My Pc doest stuff like that now,

for example....

Im loading up Battlefield Vietnam then for some reason i need to ALT TAB out of the game...

when i click BFV to maxamize it i hear a pretty loud click from inside the computer then next thing i see the computer rebooting...

So is that a sign of a crappy PSU?

Whatever you decide to buy in the hardware line, leave it as long as possible as most likely the prices will be lower in a few weeks/months. An exception to this is memory which fluctuates all over the place - you have to keep your eyes on this and buy when you consider it is cheap.

Don't know about the click :o

That does sound dodgy........ Dunno mine just overheated and cut out and would start for a few minutes (to cool down???).

In the end I had to take it to the shop as a last resort (not happy-more money). The chap there said it was a number of things combined:

Dust on motherboard (Took the side of to keep it cool previously)

CPU Cooler (more dust got a noisy one now :( )

Power supply (more dust)

I can't say about yours but I'd definatly get something bigger sooner than later. A 5200 card isn't very good (no offence) and your only stress your system more by putting something more powerful on it.

Buy a card with ram sinks on as well to keep it cooler might cost a bit more, but might be worth it, I will be next time.

that last post confused me a little,

you saying buying a new graphics card would be too stress full on my pc!!!???

Or do you mean buyign a new graphics card without buying a

PSU would be too much stress...

or are you saying a new graphics card would be to stress full on my MOBO/processor
