ADAWARE

I use Adaware 1.05 personal. I checked for updates this morning. The definition file installed is SE 1R 16 28.10,2004. When I connected I was informed that definition file, SE 1R 17 05.11.2004 is available. I clicked to download and this appeared to go ahead. However the definition file was still listed as SE 1R 16 28.10.2004. I clicked update again and downloaded again. I did this several times and still the new file was not installed. I rebooted and still only have the old definition file. I downloaded and rebooted again. Still the old file. As anyone else experienced a problem with this update?

When d/loading it, I experienced a message regarding corrupt download twice, however on the 3rd try it downloaded and installed, shows mine as SE 1R 17 05.11.2004 Loaded,

Not sure that's any help to you though, do you get any error messages at all ?

I reported the update last night after downloading with no problem.

Just had a look and it sayy the correct SE1R 17 and there are no further updates.

It might be best to do a new install, andsome.

I have just this minute uninstalled it, deleted it from my downloads folder, download a fresh copy, installed it, updated it, and it still shows defiles SE 1R 16 28.10.2004. There are also problems with this download posted on PCA.

I really cannot understand this now. I uninstalled yet again, this time a custom uninstall, and uninstalled EVERYTHING. I deleted the last remaining folder from Windows Explorer, then ran a search from START/SEARCH, and deleted all references to Adaware. I then ran a registry cleaner. After that I downloaded the program from a different mirror site. When installed it showed defiles dated 13th 09 2004. I clicked on update and downloaded the updates, but still have defile SE 1R 16 28.10.2004.

Yes same thing happened to me last night. I was doing my usual Friday night housekeeping, and Ad-A would not download. I carried on with S&D. Did my cleanup, defrag, and whatever. When I went back to it an hour latter Ad-A worked ok.

Download this file and unzip it to your adaware folder in Programme files.

It will over-write the existing defs.ref file.

Very many thanks to you all. This solution of Boris's worked. I had downloaded this file several times and tried various means of installing it into Adadware, including dropping and dragging etc. I will know in future.
