I know it seems crazy but I think the law still states that children at the age of 5 can have some form of alcohol not quite sure on quanities as it is a long time ago i heard this.Again my memory is hazy on this but it is illegal for under 5's to have alcohol, but I seem to recall from some (in the 70's) D of E community course police classes that gripe water contains alcohol !!!Pubs and underage drinkers, there are circumstances that youngsters are allowed to drink in pubs/restaurants.The alcohol laws are a mess, it's illegal to buy booze for under 18's etc but they are allowed to drink at home, (break out the stills :D )One of my stepsons went through a booze period getting bladdered every weekend, now he seems to be past it.A lot of youngsters go through this phase and come out OK, they eventually learn from the hangovers :D far worse is if they start on the dreaded ciggies, far more addictive than the booze, and the effects more insidious (?) (I'm still trying to keep off them since alan's post)We can only hope they take on board the well meaning advice coming from their elders, who've been there , done that.Not all youngsters are yobs but part of the youth culture seems to be they have to appear to be. I also went through a phase when I was 14/15 where I just wanted to get hammered, it passed when I left school and had to get a job and take on some responsability.One place where I have slipped though is the cigs, started at 14 and still going 12 years later! I've tried to quit, but a combination of stress from my job and having no willpower just hinder me! Im sorry if i offended anyone and as i have said before i do like drink and getting hammered is nice but I dont do it every day and since i am probably the either youngest or second youngest person on this forum i know you are all a lot older ( you can look at this whatever way :P) and alot wiser ( i hope :unsure: :P ) i basically have you all looking down on me. You have to admit that although there are thousands of decent kids about, there are also far too many bad apples in the barrel. I still say that you should have the sense to leave booze alone at your age, and of course cigarettes. Drink taken in moderation is very enjoyable, I enjoyed a few myself last night in very good company at a little get together of friends, but feel perfectly fit this morning. Pleasure without pain. Occasionally, I may have a beer or so, but after that I hang up my keys and don't leave my house. Even after 1 beer. But, on those days I want more than 1 beer, I'm sorry, but I'm getting sloppy-faced hammered (so long as I don't have school/work the next day). If I'm with a group, all our keys are put in a cast-iron safe, the doors are deadbolted, and those keys also put in the safe, and teh key to the safe get's put into a bedroom. We're responsible about it yes, but that doesn't mean we don't like to get staggeringly drunk every once in awhile. Think of it as people who have been there - done that and hopefully learned the lesson without causing harm to themselves or others. Now they show concern for you and all people of your age group.None of us wish you to stop enjoying yourself but remember that although you are under the age for buying alcohol legally you are at an age where you are responsible for your actions.You show a lot of maturity in your postings to the forum, use that same maturity in your real life and I don't think you will go far wrong. Don't be afraid to set an example and never be led by peer pressure.
