England is doing the same (pledging money), as are other nations. The US also has military ships in the area providing support and relief at this very moment.Made a donation to UNICEF this morning to do my share. Bush said more money will come as the relief efforts proceed, perhaps as much as a billion dollars. The US has always been the leader in relief to other countries. The total is now expected to surpass $1 billion.US Corporate donations are now over $500 million.American Red Cross donations now close to $50 million, UNICEF $10 million, Doctors without Borders, $4 million; CARE USA $3.5 million; Save the Children, $3 million; AmericaCares, $2 million; Oxfam America, $1.6 million, and Catholic Charities, $1.13 million. It is good to see this wonderful effort from all over the world, and shows up those evil ******** in Iraq who are still killing people, despite what has happened, for what they really are, spawn of the devil. Come on those who haven't donated yet, much more is needed, such is the scale. of the disaster. But it isn't a competition, it doesn't matter where the money originated as long as those who can afford to help out do just that. And it seems that British, American, Canadian, French, Swedish etc etc etc are doing what they can.
