Quite a debate as to whether or not to re-immobilise again for a few more weeks as the X-rays showed the the breaks hadn't knitted properly yet. Anyway was told to be very careful. Gentle movement only for 4 weeks then, if the X-rays look promising, I'll be handed over to the Physioterrorists.The right and left arms are very reminiscent of those old Charlie Atlass adverts. Skinny one on the right and a muscular one on the left. Been trying to amuse mesen by knocking up some more cold frames for the wife. Carcases OK, just straight left-handed saw cuts., with screw eyes in the corners and held together with rods - again cut to length with left hand. Ends rounded off using bench grinder. The lids have been a bit more tricky. Rigged up the band saw with a support on each side. Ripped the 3 x 2's from temporary garage door infill from next door as her replacement door has been fitted. Fine so far. Then cut simple lap joints with the band saw. However fitting 45 deg re-enforcing strips in the corners was more tricky. Using a mitre block and lots of clamps made several cuts which then had to be chiselled out. This is definitely a 2 handed job. Trying to guide the chisel with right hand and whacking it with a hammer in the left hand has been hilarious.Left handed carpenters must be born to the job. Not a quickly acquired art. doug Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Share Posted January 25, 2005 I was just going to say that I'll only be drinking shorts with the right arm but the hand only come within 15 ins of my face at the moment. I'll just have to put up with drinking with the left for a while longer. Was warned that with the amount of metal work on the outside I probably wont be able to fully straighten the arm.
