Belatucadrus Posted March 21, 2005 Report Share Posted March 21, 2005 Iraq will always be a contentious issue, I support the removal of the homicidal loon Saddam Hussein and deplore the UNs continued inability to do anything beyond mildly criticising those guilty of genocide, Rwanda, Sudan and to a lesser extent Zimbabwe show the UN for the useless hive of bureaucrats it is. In the face of evil, doing nothing should not be an option.Yet I also find myself absolutely opposing the duplicitous, slimy manipulation of "Intelligence" data done by Tony Blair to ensure that the British parliament supported what he in his born again zealotry had decided was THE RIGHT THING TO DO . Where his fundamental and flawed belief that he is definitively correct and that if anybody thinks otherwise, then a bit of spin doctoring to get people to do what he wants is all OK. His overweening faith in his own infallibility clearly leads him to believe that the end justifies the means. A view I whole heartedly oppose, we are supposed to live in a democratic, not a demagogic system and the sooner we vote this man out the better. I have posted on the subject of Brown and Blair several times on this forum, usually I hope in a tongue in cheek manner, but I can not truly express how much I despise and loathe these people without resorting to the sort of invective that would get the posting removed. Just look at the number of *resolutions* they have sponsored telling Syria to leave Lebanon. The UN. All talk. No action. Bribes gladly accepted. andsome Posted March 22, 2005 Report Share Posted March 22, 2005 I too am glad to see the back of the Iraqi dictator, and do support the troops for what they are trying to achieve now. However as has already been said, OIL has a lot to do with this situation. I dislike Bush for other reasons. How can anyone agree with a man who has actually stated that he can see nothing wrong with logging, because it helps to prevent forest fires. Much as I have enjoyed my visits to the USA, I cannot see why they are so preoccupied with using up all the fuel reserves of the world with NO thought for the future. Is there really any need for 5 and 6 litre engines in cars, when the modern 2 litre car can do all that is required of it? Bush has denied that global warming is happening, and has refused to sign the Kyoto agreement because it will cost American industry money. The way things are going now with the melting of the ice caps, and general changes to the climate, together with rapidly increasing pollution, THERE WILL BE NO ONE LEFT ALIVE to run his precious industry. It is also true that the US and Britain supported the Iraqi despot against Iran, and supplied him with arms. If we want to achieve something with force, how about Zimbabwe, and Sudan?
