deuces wild
A sigh of relief for the worldFor some of the world, not everyone has the same opinions.Exactly. And if the residents of the Middle East Countries continue to push for freedom and democracy GWB will go down as one of the greatest Presidents of the United States...without him none of this would have happened. scuzzman
A sigh of relief for the worldFor some of the world, not everyone has the same opinions.Exactly. And if the residents of the Middle East Countries continue to push for freedom and democracy GWB will go down as one of the greatest Presidents of the United States...without him none of this would have happened. If all of this were correctly implemented, I would've agreed. If our economy were better when it happened, again, I'd agree. But, simple fact of the matter is, we shouldn't be in Iraq right now, but rather Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan. Both these countries were tied to our 9/11 attacks. Iraq was found by the 9/11 commission to have nothing to do with Iraq. This is a war about oil. Plain and simple. deuces wild
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You will not change mine nor will I change yours. So what is the sense in taking it any further? But even if you are against the war please support the troops that are over there. HERE is one way. :)

Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln and Harry Truman. You obviously have a bias against the US and allow that bias to cloud your thinking. Try to look past it next time. :)
djohn
I like America, or I should say, United States. We have visited there 3 times now, the last time was in 1988 we spent an Idyllic 3 months in Florida, mostly in Key west, then Key Marathon with the last couple of weeks in Miami. In between that we went up the east coast to Disney World, over to Tampa on the west coast then through the Everglades to the Keys. It was heaven. :)[Edit] While we were in Marathon, we hired a two masted yacht and I sailed it out 5 miles into the Mexican gulf side of the Keys, The water was so clear and still only 5 to 6 feet deep right out there because we were on a coral reef. :)

catgate
You obviously have a bias against the US and allow that bias to cloud your thinking. This is common among British people. What they do not understand is that most Americans are right. They must be, because they say so. I spent the biggest part of my time in industry with an American Multinational, (20 years as a senior manager in the R&D Division), and consequently have had first hand experience of just how right they can be. Sometimes at enormous cost!!! I have know times when they were right to the extent of millions of dollars. But.. it comes back to the old question. If you had a 30 stone grizzly bear as a pet where would he sleep? Answer....any where he bl**dy wanted.

Belatucadrus
If anybody in America wants another politician we have one going cheap. Like GWB born again visionary convinced god on his side. Like GWB thinks invading Iraq good idea. Unlike GWB never served in any capacity in the armed forces ( did once foist himself on reluctant student band as roadie ). Unlike GWB highly proficient at the obscure art of conversing through his anal sphincter.Name Tony Blair current job PM ( Particularly Malevolent ).Please offer him a job in congress, anything will do as long as it sounds important. From the press reports he's more popular over there than here and you're quite welcome to him. We'll even throw in an obscure incomprehensible Scot named Brown, better at screwing money out of Joe public than Capone.Somebody take them away Pleeeeeeeze. joysness
deuces,I don't usually reply in political threads but as I read this one I felt compelled to.I live in the U.S. I am a Canadian citizen and have lived in the States for just over 27 years. It was my choice to move here because I felt I could have a better life than what I had in Canada.I am not able to vote in U.S. elections because I am not a citizen. I try not to complain about the politcians because I have chosen, for various reasons to retain my Canadian citizenship.I don't know if you remember some of my other posts here, but I have expressed that I am not in favour of our current president. What I would like to say though, is that I cannot say I do not like Mr. Bush, Mr. Chaney or any of the other politicians because I do not know them. I have never met any of them, never spent one moment in their company and so I cannot speak to whether they are "good" or "bad".I can say, however, that I do not like their policies, their decisions on many things or the way I percieve the way they are running this country and the direction it seems to be going.I am well aware that "if I don't like it I can go live somewhere else". People in other forums have expressed that to me.I choose to live here and I will continue to do so.I will also continue to agree with or disagree with whomever I choose. It saddens me when I see you taking things so personally. I don't believe anyone here is trying to attack you, your beliefs or your country. We simply choose to have a different opinion of things than you.I certainly would never expect anyone else to share my opinions. If they agree with me that's great and if they don't that's great too. Please understand I am not trying to criticize your love of country or your allegiance to the President. You agree with his policies and you approve of the way things are being done here. That is your right and you do not need to defend it. It's your right to feel whatever you feel. Some of us feel differently, that's all :flowers:edited for spelling :)
deuces wild
I am not taking anything personal other than getting tired of reading folks put down the US and our government without showing any hint of recognizing the good things happening in the Middle East or supporting the brave men and women fighting for our freedoms overseas.I have yet to read a post from anyone recognizing the tremendous positive changes being made in Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Syria. None of these things would be happening if it were not for the US and GWB.I have yet to read a post from anyone supporting the troops. All I read is Bush is bad. Cheney is bad....and so on.If you (not you in particular) want to complain, fine.....I cannot change that. As I said before I accept the fact that everyone is entitled to an opinion. But don't be so blind as to not recognize the good things and to show support for the troops. Otherwise you (not you in particular) come across as purely biased with nothing more than a negative partisan agenda.
djohn
You say you have yet to hear or read of support for the troops deuces. You have my support for these brave men and women, my son is in one of our most elite regiments and has already done 3 tours of duty out in Iraq 2 in Afghanistan among many others.Whatever we feel regarding the politicians, the troops have our full support. :flowers:

joysness
I don't believe in war. I don't believe that killing anyone is an answer to anything.I support the men and women doing what they feel is right and I pray they come home safely and quickly.I do not support the war.I see a world where we choose not to accept others; their religions, their beliefs, their way of life and even the circumstances of that life.I do not believe we had or have any business forcing "democracy" on anyone. The people of Iraq did not ask the U.S. to come and "save" them.I pray that at some point they will reap some benefit from our intrusion and interference.People live the way they live because they choose to. (that is what I choose to believe). You choose to see "good" in what is happening in Iraq and/or the Middle East. I choose to see something else.I see too many people dying for the wrong reasons. I believe there is a better way.I am not against war I am for Peace. Everywhere and for everyone. My belief is that when you are "against" something you will just create more of it to be against.I choose to be for Peace so that I can create more of that in my life and the world. In the history of humankind, war has never brought Peace."You get what you give" is what I choose as a way to live. Whatever we send out in word or deed will be returned to us. What we give we will recieve. If we give hate, we will receive hate; if we give love, we will receive love: if we lie, we will be lied to; if we cheat, we will be cheated. If we give peace, we will receive peace.I choose to do my best to give love, kindness, peace and acceptance because that is what I want to receive. And even if I'm wrong, I would still rather live that way and be wrong, because I will be experiencing a loving, kind, peaceful accepting world. I can disagree with someone and accept that they are free to believe whatever they want.So I accept that our opinions and ideas differ. So be it.I bid you Peace :flowers:
Robbers Dog
Whatever we feel regarding the politicians, the troops have our full support.Should that not be "the troops have my full support" because they certainly don't have mine or many others who feel that the UK should not be supporting Bush in Iraq. The only reason why the US is in Iraq is because of the vast oil reserves. The Religious Right in America are no different than the Islamic Fundamentalists. They both think they have GOD on their side.
deuces wild
In the history of humankind, war has never brought Peace.Absolutely, positively not true.Should that not be "the troops have my full support" because they certainly don't have mine or many others who feel that the UK should not be supporting Bush in Iraq.Sorry you cannot look past your political bias to support our young men and women over there. You confirm what I complained about. joysness
In the history of humankind, war has never brought Peace.Absolutely, positively not true. If war brought Peace the world would be at Peace. We have now and have had many wars. If all that warring brought Peace there would be no more war nor any need for it. There would be Peace.Unfortunately, until we give Peace we cannot have it.You cannot give what you do not have, and you can only receive what you give.
