doug
And looking down from the top of Mottarone - 1421m,to our part of Lake Maggiore, where we were staying (straight down). Switzerland is up the lake near the top. We went up by cable car - change half way, then big push up as far as the road went. Anne had to assist by pushing on the wheels as well. After the road finished I ran ( no I crawled) up the track to the top for this and other views. You can see 5 of the lakes from this point but I will try and stitch them together another time. catgate
It'snice to see that the Italians have stuck to convention and kept the ground at the bottom of the picture. I always feel it makes for a more balanced picture.
doug
This is a bit of a cheat, it's of a photograph hanging on the wall of a restaurant in Arona. It was taken during the floods of Oct 2000, the water level rose about 15 m. Given the size of Lake Maggiore that's an awful lot of water. Now you couldn't have arranged that picture even if you tried - very hard.

andsome
Looks gorgeous. I see the Italiens go in for rude railways.
