Everyone seemed to be looking at us like we were prey........and LA - well - there were police helicopters and sounds of gunshots on the evening we spent there.It was fine out in the sticks where my brother lives but SOO hot and there were snakes, bears and wildcats there.I'd like to try some other places in the USA. It was a delightful seaside town. Forget LA. There are large areas of California well away from there that are gorgeous. We have driven the whole length of the Pacific coastline. If you haven't done so and you get the opportunity, please visit Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and the Big Bend of the Rio Grande. And, of course, also the Everglades.But back to the original topic, the flesh eating bacteria is not confined to a river in Florida. A short time ago it gained a lot of publicity when cases were contracted in UK hospitals. A cold fog or mist envelops the bay area and you can easily get caught out.We, too, stayed in a cabin in the Yosemite. I am not fit to climb the rocks but there are beautiful walks, for example, to Mirror Lake, a lovely tranquil area, in spite of hordes of tourists down in the valley.Thos.
