deuces wild
.....to tell kids how terrible fishing is. :roflmao: http://www.fishinghurts.com/feat-newcomic.aspPETA's pro-fish leaflet reminds fishers and their families that fish feel pain and fear when they are impaled in the mouth and ripped from their underwater homes and that they deserve to be treated with kindness, just like all animals. Before they are desensitized to the suffering of animals, PETA aims to help kids see the violent bloody truth behind their fathers' outdoor pastime.Children will read: "Imagine that a man dangles a piece of candy in front of you. ... As you grab the candy, a huge metal hook stabs through your hand and you're ripped off the ground. You fight to get away, but it doesn't do any good... That would be an awful trick to play on someone, wouldn't it?"What a bunch of idiots! :bangin: PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals. :P
Gandalph
Ripping cabbages and potatoes out of their roots is OK by them I suppose, and of course don't forget scarring trees so they can bleed rubber to make tyres for their cars is perfectly alright.

-pops-
Why not have AETH - Animals for the Ethical Treatment of Humans.Membership would consist of sharks (esp. Jaws), all of the large cat family - and even small ones, bears, wolves and other wild dogs and so on. But, why leave it at large animals? Mosquitos would be a good addition and parasitic worms that not only live in the gut but in any other part of the body. On an even smaller scale, there are the "things" that cause malaria (plasmodium) and many other tropical diseases and the disease causing bacteria and, even smaller, viruses. These last may not technically be animals but they are generally classed as living organisms.Membership of AETH will be compulsory for all species.BUNKUM
andsome
PETA aside, I must admit that I can't see any point in fishing unless you intend to eat the end result of your labours. I know that many people do it, but as far as I am concerned 'each to his own'. I can think of better ways to enjoy myself. I once owned a very cheap fishing rod, but it was only ever used for fishing for mackerel off the beach on holiday. It was very satisfying to fetch a nice big one out and eat it twenty minutes later, food cannot come fresher than that. I can however see little pleasure in sitting out in the rain on a cold and windy day, dragging inedible species out of a mucky river, and then throwing them back in. You either eat what you catch or catch and release. I really don't understand your point. An avid fisherman probably can't seen any point in sitting in front of a computer chatting in a forum when one could be out enjoying nature. Fishing is a sport enjoyed by billions across the globe. Just because you were never good at it does not make it a useless sport. ;) Mommy is now a killer also according to those nuts at PETA:: http://www.furisdead.com/pdfs/mommykills.pdf
Robbers Dog
The RSPCA in the UK kills thousands of unwanted pets every year. Are they supposed to house and feed them for the rest of their natural life?I can however see little pleasure in sitting out in the rain on a cold and windy day, dragging inedible species out of a mucky river, and then throwing them back in.I can see no pleasure in rolling wooden balls across a green, either flat or crown. :D

rong
I know that many people do it, but as far as I am concerned 'each to his own'.so to do it to fish is alright because lots of people do it, but to chase foxes is wrong because the wrong people do it. Bit hypocritical that.

rong
Why shouldn't the fox be edible, the dog is, not sure about cats though. I believe the fox is somewhere between the two.Sorry, of subject, and English.
andsome
If anyone wants to try fox then so be it. I don't fancy it myself. I cannot however approve of people on horses chasing the wretched animal for miles before allowing hounds to tear it to pieces, then to crown it all to smear the faces of children with the animals blood. They are queer in the head.

They are queer in the head. That was me earlier point, your very anti fox hunting, or more to the point the people that do it, didn't make the same point about the fish having a hook stuck through their mouth, dragged out of their natural environment, and usually half suffocated. this is, in my opinion worse. But maby it depends who dose it. Then I have nothing against hunting.Sorry again for going slightly of topic.
