......at least before I was told that this smilie was offensive:

http://www.bestsmileys.com/pageindex.htm

Go to 'mooners' then the Bart Simpson moonie.

The messages I received?

"Sorry but I was asked to remove your post" after which the entire thread was pulled."

and

"Please amend your signature as it has gone too far with the exposed rear end".

So.............I have asked the person the smilie was addressed to if it was offensive in any way. The answer...........NO as the person understood it was meant as a joke. Afterall, it was a cartoon character showing part of his butt and shaking it. Oh my!

Help me understand this.............We can allow a joke about an Irish coal miner coming home for lunch and getting a BJ acceptable yet find a smilie of a *cartoon* character mooning not acceptable?

Oh my. What has this forum become?

What I would really like to know is, was the thread offensive or the mooning cartoon smilie? We need guide line here as to what smilies are allowed. I really cannot see anything to worry about in a mooning cartoon. There's a lot more titillating things on here than that. Now that we all have said that the cartoon does not offend us, can we please see the thread itself, providing of course that it was not the thread that caused offence.

I moved the post to a holding section after receiving a complaint from a member stating that it was thought offensive especially to a lady. Note that I didn't delete it, I just hid it from general view. I was the only one on the forum able to do this at the time and my intention was that Admins/mods should give their opinion in due course - with the option of re-instating it.

I am sorry that this is causing so much consternation but, I'm sure you'll agree that if a complaint is received, it is incumbent on whoever is capable of acting on it to do so - which I did, as I have just explained.

I shall now go away until things have settled down.

Pops, I am not blaming you in any way. I know you did what you had to do.

My complaint is to the person(s) making an objection to my post in the first place, especially considering that the person who it was directed to took it as it was intended to be.....a joke.

We can now close this thread please.
