The current feeling within the admin and mod team is to scrap the domain totally in favour of bringing some of the more popular forums here and directly incorporate them. Chris has already added two forums here at Windows Forum to see how it works.

To be honest, it is a little dead in the water.

One of my personal favourites is to keep the whole board separate from Windows Forum, but have it located here at Windows Forum at a location like www.windowsforum.org/home

We shall see, no final decision has been made yet.

How long dose it take for this sight to get higher up the web search listings. I have just put in various searches for help with computer and windows, and no sign of us. that's five or six pages in google and yahoo.

There's no time....it could take 2 days to 2 years or however long it has to be.

There is a lot we can do to get page rank back.

1. You need the Google toolbar
   
2. You need to install it with the "Advanced Option" that sends feedback to Google
   
3. If you use Internet Exploder, click on the yellow smilie "Vote for this page" when being on the WindowsForum website
   

The more of us that do it, the quicker we will rise the page rank.

I have also just added the URL to the ODP queue, so it will eventually end up in the Google Directory.

Google has obviously not forgotten Windows Forum, but does not a good job (yet) if someone googles for 'computer problem help' or something similar. If someone is clever enough to know the name Windows Forum, then s/he will find it quickly.

Added: the one thing we need to wait for is for Google to re-index the entire site. So if then someone googles for a specific problem, then this will lead the googler here (if we had this specific problem before somewhere).

My point was that if I was looking for help with my PC, I would type something like PC help, Windows help or computer help. I typed computer help and went through 20 pages and no sign of windows forum, I tried Windows help and went 10 pages, no sign. the point is how do people find us. I would not normally go past 5 or 6 pages looking for something and there are plenty of sights on the first two pages.

Most people will find help with a PC or Windows problem by googling with problem-specific keywords, such as an error message. If a forum website is fully indexed by Google, then it will come up high when the keywords are present on the site.
