Unfortunately this is true. No offence meant in this posting, but DW if you think carefully I am sure that you will see yourself in this category. I think that some of the reaction by our cuddly little bear has been a wee bit OTT, but we are all guilty of that at times. It is a sad fact that there is no such thing as true black and white, but only various shades of grey, when considering politics. It is plain for all to see that you can see no wrong in the US administration. If you consider things carefully you will see that there are an awful lot of things regarding 911 which are being kept quiet. It was clear to almost everyone that the Bush administration was extremely slow to act after Hurricane Katrina. It is also clear to most of us that during Dubya's first election campaign, MANY poor people who would have voted Democrat were swindled out of their vote, and Dubya's relatives fought tooth and nail against a recount and any action in court. The US administration is far from clean in a good many respects. Many of us were glad to see Saddam Husein toppled, but we went to war based on lies, lies which were expounded by Colin Powell in the UN. It is also a fact that many US politicians have made fortunes by owning shares in companies that have done extremely suspect work in the reconstruction of Iraq. I think that this thread should now be closed, as it has developed into a slanging match. The broad consensus on here seems to be that politicians of ALL shades leave a lot to be desired.

DW can defend his corner, but I have seen nowhere that he "can see no wrong in the US administration" just because he disagrees with the conspiracy theory. And why , in arrogance, should it be inferred that he has not "considered things carefully" just as others have?

I, personally, was bitterly disappointed that Bush was re-elected but he was re-elected under the laws of the USA, and to say that poor people were swindled is a travesty.

Finally, no judicial finding has proved that there were "lies", either here or in the US.

You obviously didn't follow the proceeding in the US after that first election. There were thousands in Florida who could not vote because os so called technicalities. Attemps to thrash this out in court were fought tooth and nail by Republicans. All these lost votes were in the poorer parts of Florida.

Election fraud:

The Supreme Court ruled that ballots not be counted because "the counting of votes that are of questionable legality does, in my view (Scalia wrote the 5/4 majority decision), threaten irreparable harm to petitioner [bush], and to the country, by casting a cloud upon what he [bush] claims to be the legitimacy of his election."

Translated into english this means that the court disallowed votes to be counted because they might show that Bush lost! This scam was perpetrated upon the citizens of the US by a partisan court in collusion with Bush. The relationships between Bush and the so-called "Justices" on the court should be investigated, as well as the relationship between Bush and the many election irregularities which occurred in Florida during the 2000 election. The fact that Bush's brother is governor of that state should not be overlooked in this investigation.

Influence peddling:

The relationship between Bush and ENRON, as well as other large corporations, bears investigation. Within months of Bush's inauguration, the entire energy plan of the country was suddenly pouring increased billions into the coffers of these large energy corporations, companies Bush has had business dealings with for decades. The administration then, through Vice-President Cheney, sought to hide the influences which oil company and other executives had in forming the Bush energy plan. In addition Bush has gone out of his way to change or sidestep environmental regulations in order to increase profits for large corporations. All this while CEOs are raking in record billions in salaries and stock options while the average US citizen is seeing her/his wages decrease, jobs are being lost to low-paying and slave labor in other countries.

Violation of oath of office:

Bush is not defending the constitution, he is attempting to bypass it. Under his authority, Bush's Attorney General has done more to set back the progress of civil liberties and rights than any other AG since McCarthyism. The Bush Administration advocates US citizens spying on each other a la Orwell's "1984

Sorry to drag that up again, but I am merely trying to point out to you that you give the impression of seeing the Bush administration, and America through rose tinted spectacles. America, as has this country and all others in the world, an awful lot wrong with it. I cannot see the point in sheer blind patriotism, and not accepting that maybe, just maybe, all is not perfect in your country. I feel sure that you agree that most of us on here can see faults in our countries. As I said, NO OFFENCE meant.

I would neither believe them OR say that they were complete fiction. There is no smoke without fire, and an awful lot of questions about 911 have been, or at least appear to have been unanswered. Many questions about an awful lot of subjects in both our country's are not fully answered, or only half answered at best.

Any time anyone says anything at all against the administration, lets face it, you do tend to leap blindly to the defence. There is an awful lot wrong as has been pointed out with ALL governments in the world, it is one of life's sad facts.
