Craig Posted July 3, 2006 Report Share Posted July 3, 2006 Hi and welcome back to Windows Forum!Sorry for the delay in getting the forum back online, but better late than never.The downtime over the past 24 hours was a result of transferring Windows Forum to a fully managed hosting account. This change is part of a larger plan which I will come to shortly.The downtime came as the host was unable to transfer Windows Forum directly from my own dedicated server, so I was forced to backup, and then upload each file individually. This slowed the process down. The database has now been fully restored. You may notice that a few hours of posts are missing; this is due to the backup and restoration procedure failing, and me having to use a slightly earlier database backup than planned. I believe much isn’t missing, and my apologies to those whose posts are missing.The backup site was in operation for a short while on my personal home server, but due to the nature of the forum, and it being CPU intensive, it didn’t mix well with the current heat wave we are having, and I had to turn it off to stop it from over-heating. Again my apologies.Now as I pointed out above, this transfer is part of a slightly larger plan.I plan on leaving the forum at the end of the month, and take a back seat for a period of time to allow me to pursue over ventures and concentrate on my personal life.I fully believe that the forum will be well managed by the current admin and moderating team, as it has been for some time now. Nothing will change here at the forum, and your Windows Forum experience will remain the same.I shall still be involved in any decision making process, and I will also be about keeping the forum up-to-date and performing any maintenance that is required. In the event of any disaster, the admin and moderating team have been provided with my contact details so I can assist.That’s about it for the time being.
