Oh... I thought Singapore was an oriental country and would therefore have Oriental characters on the keyboard.

Well... you learn something new every day. :)

The native language is Malaya, often, and wrongly, referred to as Malayan. It is made up from the same Alphabet that we use. :)

Keyboard is a US job. OK on this one but most of the letters have been worn off!

Still having a superb time. What an island. Will have lots of piccs to post. Will have to some serious pruning. what struck me the first night were the fantastic bronze sculpturs around the main city most along the river though. The humour in them really tickled my pickle. Only popped in to post some serious shopping questions so will start a dedicated thread!

Do they still have Boogie Street in Singapore? My hubby used to be a merchant seaman and brought home a few postcards from there

Apparently it was tradition to get up on the roof of a public loo and do a bit of a dance.

OOOh DANCE, I thought they said DUMP

Hi there, found Bugis Street. It's a covered market - sort of a Souk. Had a quick scout round but couldn't see any loo's - daren't ask I might have been propositioned. Took some pics from the out side on a friends camera tha he lent me. Lost mine in a taxi and it hasn't turned up. Have reported to Police and got a report for the insurance - rather sick over it because the family had all clubbed together to buy it for my 65th birthday - a few years back now. It had about 359 shots on it and I was going to get an extra memory card. S I've got a replacement a Fuji F470 lots of capacit 1GB and 6 megapx. Only thing I miss is the viewfinder. Also having to get used to it. Only a week left of the holiday. Time flies!

Well, today is our last day. Had a wonderful time. Tomorrow finish packing do some last minute shopping - still got a few SG$'s left. Then a light meal and transport to the airport at 20:30, flight takes off at 22:55. Wondering what meals we will get this time. On the flight out we were woken up to offers of either icecream or noodles for breakfast. I chose the noodles which were served with chopsticks!

Not sure when I'll be checking in again because my present server is due to cancel my account on the 25th so TalkTalk can set me up with an account with them!

Thanks andsome. Got back about mid-day UK time. Flights were OK. Had very good seats for the main flight - a 12 hour job due to head winds. A couple of front seats with plenty of leg room. Took off at 11 pm SG time and landed at Schipol 05:40 - Dutch time. The took off at 08:55 Dutch time and UK at 09:15 - Geordie time. Washing machine has been going non-stop. Sending this from Susan's PC as My BB has gone as expected. Now for the nail biting wait for TT to do their stuff. Got loads of Pics with the new camers - 470, not counting thos I took with the camaers I managed to borrow to tide me over 'till I got the new one. Whats the rules on no. of attachments?
