Burns Night.

Isn't it Burns night celebration tonight? Does anyone on this board ever participate and do the traditional haggis and wee dram thing. I never have and have never tasted haggis (the wee dram is a different matter, though I am not really fond of whisky, except for an occasional good malt).

The formalities of piping the stuff in, speeches, cutting with a sword look fun, though. Mind you even a little of those bagpipes is too much for Thos.

I lived in the Middle east for 12 years before I retired in 1997 and celebrated Burns Night every year at that time. In fact we expats celebrated every anniversary possible - drawing from a rich library of celebrations from all countries, religions, sports, hobbies and pastimes. If we couldn't find something to celebrate on a particular rest day or week-end - we then celebrated having nothing to celebrate. The following day we would celebrate having - or not having, as the case may be - a hang-over.

Happy days - but it's nice to be home.

We have a Prize Gold medalist here in Duns. He has won medals for his black pudding and haggis. Lovely stuff. :D
