AlanHo
I have just carefully read the Chicken Little article and frankly find it difficult to accept. In fact, I would suggest it is a fairy story and a feeble attempt by DW to wind us up.

Gandalph
Foul! No. Chicken Little was a Fowl! :lol:Had you lived over here DW and seen and heard at first hand what the Labour Party were going to achieve under 'New Labour, New Britain' campaign several years ago I think you would have a little better understanding of why we complain about him and the Labour Party so much. For starters recently, he is holding the Public Sector to a maximum 3% pay rise whilst they themselves have put in for a 66% increase in salary. Our National Health has been on the decline for years but I think it fair to say it has gotten worse under the Labour Parties rule. They can't find the money to finance the NHS properly which in itself is amazing considering they can find millions of pounds to fund a war which we shouldn't be part of. I could go on and on about the cost of living rises and fuel rises and tax rises and duty on this and that but the length of postings on this board is restricted. I dont think there is even enough room on the Internet itself to explain all of the things they haven't done and were going to do, and the things they have done they were not going to do. I think you will find things pretty well the same here in the States. :( But to think that any government employee does nothing right is just garbage. The point I was trying to make (with Chicken Little) is that constantly whining and complaining about government and social problems does nothing but make one appear to be a very negative person. What one needs to do is take action to correct those problems while maintaining a positive attitude. Life is really not that bad. B)

What one needs to do is take action to correct those problems while maintaining a positive attitude. Life is really not that bad. B)Not so easy to do until an election comes along. The problem here is that our politicians are just as corrupt as yours. It now appears that when B'liar is eventually dragged away screaming, that there won't even be an election within the Labour party to replace him. Everything is being orchestrated to replace him with Comrade Gordon. The British public have become disillusioned so much with politicians that close on half don't even bother to vote. I, together with millions of others was brought up in a Labour voting home, the notion being in those days that only the Labour party could represent the so called working class. You don't understand just how bad our class system still is. There are millions even now in the country, who if they bother to vote at the next election, will not look at the issues, and what Labour has done to our once wonderful NHS, and won't even be aware of all Comrade Gordon's STEALTH taxes, and will blindly put their cross in the Labour box. How much do you pay for petrol? We currently pay about 85 pence per litre. How much do you pay for C.D's and D.V.D's? We are taxed almost out of existence. It has recently been reported that Comrade Gordon will retire with a pension fund worth we over £1,000,000. Just think what his annual pension will be. Labour spent years bullying people to provide for their retirement, urging them to join pension funds, and threatening them that if they did not, then they would be put into one, and the contributions taken from them. They were ASSURED that this was the only way that they would get a decent standard of living when they retired, and that their contributions would be SAFE. Now with the collapse of several large employers, and short falls in pension funds many have lost everything and face a very bleak future. The government has refuse point blank to help these people, having practically forced them to join the plans in the first place. The Labour party promised to reform the House of Lords, a completely undemocratic institution. They failed on this account abysmally. They are now talking about having another go. The new plan is to get rid of up to half of the hereditary peers, and replace them with political appointees. Some democracy that is isn't it? Do you need any more, to understand our point of view?BY THE WAY. Had you looked properly at the initial post by Catgate, you would have noticed that it was a JOKE. andsome
This thread was started as a joke by Catgate. For some reason DW took it seriously. We were then treated to the perennial Chicken link. In reply to DW's comments Gandalph made a serious assessment and I followed this up. All perfectly valid points after the comments by DW, he is obviously unaware of the rapidly shrinking support for B'liar in this country. I don't know who the bilious comment was meant for, myself, Gandalph or Catgate, or possibly all three, but none of us started any unpleasantness, the thread after all as stated WAS A JOKE, and not to be taken seriously. I think that sums it up.
gordythegouge
Fact........it was a joke!Fact........some people take themselves too seriously!Fact........Tony Blair is in power because the Electoral System in this country made it happen.Fact........we all had our chance to vote! (And believe me....I never voted him in....I hold the wonderful honour of....despite voting at every election since I reached voting age......of never backing the winning horse!) Course the fact I vote SNP all the time hasn't helped!Fact.........democratically, he's ours whether we want him or not, and we'll have to put up with him because other people, who don't share one's views, and crucialy, are in the majority, votd for him and his Party.Fact.........you'll all get your chance to make your feelings felt at the next election.Fact.........Life can be a bugger!PS Enjoyed Catgate's joke.....let's all take it as it was intended! catgate
The point I was trying to make (with Chicken Little) is that constantly whining and complaining about government and social problems does nothing but make one appear to be a very negative person. The point that you did make was that you had taken the usual gung-ho American tactical ploy of "shoot first and ask questions after wards". You had not troubled yourself to find out the facts. You relied on a previously created and erroneous image and acted upon it. As to what sort of person I appear to be has absolutely nothing at all to do with you. Should you not wish to be affected by my "negative attitude" then you have my blessing not to read what I postWhat one needs to do is take action to correct those problems while maintaining a positive attitude. This, I suppose, is what you did. Like your esteemed leader, you launch a "Shock and Awe attack" upon something which is not your concern or responsibilty, whilst maintaining an attitude of smiling rectitude, without being fully cognisant of the facts, and having only your own end in view. I can only be grateful to providence you did not have access to "nukes".
