Each year all four are performed on consecutive evenings in the opera house at Bayreuth. The waiting list for tickets is several years long, and the price is prohibitive. Not being educated in classical music, I just did a search on the Ring Cycle.See what I found...The only classical music I have actually sat and listened to has been the 'Last Night of the Proms' on television. What would you expect from someone who looks like Alan Partridge.Have a look at this for a slightly more learned view.I've been lucky enough to see the whole of the Ring live at Covent Garden not Bayreuth, unfortunately, and not all at once, luckily - there's about 15 hours of it. andsome Posted March 11, 2007 Report Share Posted March 11, 2007 Beside always wanting to visit Bayreuth to see The Ring, I would have loved to visit Verona to see 'AIDA' in the large ampitheatre,HERE.and also La Scala Milan to see Madame Butterfly, and La Boheme.La Scala renovated.I have been lucky enough to attend performances of Mahler's Symphony number 8 and Symphony number 2 in Symphony hall Birmingham. Another memorable night was a performance of Symphony number 8, The Leningrad Symphony by Dimitri Shostakovitch, conducted by the great mans son Maxim, this was in Birmingham Town Hall. I have also been lucky enough to have attended performances of several of Anton Bruckner's symphonies.At the other end of musical tastes, I have seen most of the big bands in concert, and many of the traditional jazz bands, and also of course several concerts by Dave Brubeck. I cannot imagine life without music, and feel sorry for people who do not enjoy it. I love to dance, which of course is an expression of music.
