In fact I've got 2 a DVD recordable drive and a CDRW drive. Been looking around and don't know what to do next. Just had a quick flip through the menus - but can't see anything to help. I also browsed the help menu - to no avail.Like you I'm stumpted.Perhaps the Microsoft Knowledge base may offer some help. The MS$ site shows an excellent clip on how to go about it but in spite of following things to the letter I still keep getting the message that it can't find a suitable recordable drive. Further searching on Google I'm getting links saying that Movie Maker 2 does not support native burning, yet the MS$ link says it does. Does BG tell fibs? doug Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 7, 2008 Been going through that Irene without success. I presume that you can do it OK. Anyone any ideas as to how I go about doing a repair or a fresh installation of just the movie maker. I've got the SP2 installation disk but am concerned that if I run that I lose and will have to re-do all the updates. Been checking on the MS$ website and all I can get is that it is included in SP2. doug Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 7, 2008 Well went through the checks given in that blog - all OK but it still can't find a recordable drive. I've got 2 drives 1) a CD-RW AOPEN CRW5232/AAO and 2) a DVD Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108. Both drives are showing correctly in device manager and there are no problems or conflicts showing in device manager. Today I have successfully burnt disks in both drives using Nero Vision Express 3. mark2 Posted January 12, 2008 Report Share Posted January 12, 2008 Don't know if you've tried this yet doug,r/click "my computer", explore, r/click your cdrw drive, properties, click the "recording" tab and place a tick in the "enable recording on this drive" boxIf already ticked try unticking, rebooting then tick the box again. I get an identical display for the DVD R Drive. Is this where my problem lies, if so what do you suggest.Just noticed when browsing the drives via device manager that both drives are listed as ROM drives. However, Movie maker is still insisting that there it can't find a recordable CD drive. Staring to get a bit mad here. Anyone help me here?
