..........user names and passwords do you have for various personal sites (eg banking, credit card)?

I try not to use the same for any 2 sites and I finally found it necessary to print a copy of mine (encrypted to my xxxx code) per sitel

Life was much less complicated before computers. B)

I do have to admit that paying bills on line is pretty neat. :D

I use the same password for everything. I know this is not good, and a password manager would be an easy thing to manage different passwords for each account. Have you tried that?

I tend to use either a different user name or password for each account.

I do not use a computer program to manage my various accounts, although I may consider one if they offer additional security to how I presently secure my settings on my accounts.

I don't use any password manager, as I use the same password for everything. So there cannot be any recommendation from me.

However, why don't you try it, and give us your experience?

I use two passwords - one "ordinary" one for general non-secure purposes and a "real" one - a mix of alpha and numeric characters for anything that involves money or is confidential e.g. my lawyer or patent attorney.

The ordinary password is the same one I've had for a long time. The "real" one is changed periodically but not according to any formal timetable.

There are also some passwords that I've had given to me by the site involved. I suppose I could change them but, I've never got around to it. They are all non-secure and written on a piece of paper kept under a printer in case I forget them.

I use 3 seporate passwords which I then put together depending upon the site it depends which passsword I will use, so I have 9 passwords, around 30 characters.

I accept that it flies against the best advice to not use the same password for multi applications - but I would never remember which password applies to what bank etc without a reference sheet.

In order to improve security I am thinking of making the password longer and will possibly use "supercalafridgalistcaliexpedochious" - which might seem hard to remember - but would be easy if I hum the tune to myself as I enter it.

my memorable phrase would be "Julie Andrews".

I just have to solve what I will do at the ATM machine with a queue of impatient people behind me.

I use 2 passwords, one for forums and the other for buying stuff online from sites such as play.com and, of course, internet banking.

The password used for banking, etc, is longer and more difficult to remember and so I keep it written down in a safe place.

Well actually I use Steganos password manager. It does the job very well. I have also got my passwords and user names written down and I keep them in a safe. Steganos is quite good though, you can export and import the information onto flash drives and in case you have to re-install the programme.

I'm still not telling though. :lol:
