mark2
The winrar free edition was a one off with version 3.51, which I can no longer find online, however IZarc and 7-zip are both freeware alternatives
Dencandy
I've always found that Winrar continues working after the 40 day evaluation period. You just have to close the nag screen and continue from there. My version is 3.71 and I've had it for about 9 months. It does all the things I need it to do, but newer versions may not.I've also read that 7-zip is just as effective, if not better but haven't tried it myself. Scarecrow Man
I prefer 7-zip personally. Light and easy to use. Best of all it's free so it won't nag you to purchase it. And yes it can handle rar files.
