Hb_Kai
Has anyone ever tried these tablets which "promote healthy sleep", called Kalms Sleep? They're the ones in the purple boxes with a full moon on them.I bought some the other day but got to thinking first before taking any, do they actually work? If so, then how?I bought them thinking that they're the type of thing you can use to help yourself get to sleep, and also get into a proper routine, because I'm fed up of not being able to sleep early enough to wake up before 12PM. And another thing:- I really don't want to be taking drugs that are prescribed to me. I might aswell get a VIP card to my GP's clinic and call him my best friend as I spend enough time there to move in.Apparently they can give you worse side-effects too. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
... before 12PM.The concept of AM / PM is easy to understand, especially since the Japanese language uses the same gozen / gogo. However, 12AM & 12PM totally confuses me: which is which - midday or midnight? As for not taking drugs that are prescribed to you - that is not a good thing to do. If you don't want to take certain (or any) drugs, talk with your doctor about it. S/he may have (non-drug) alternatives, or at least explain to you what can happen if you don't take the drugs.Worse than not taking drugs at all is stopping to take a drug as soon as feeling a bit better. Especially with antibiotics you can create drug-resistant bacteria or virii with that "method".P.S. as for 'Kalms Sleep', I have no idea, as I have never tried any sleeping pills. But you can find some basic info here http://www.kalmssleep.com/.
-pops-
It isn't medication you should be using to change your sleep patterns but an examination of your lifestyle. As you are on good terms with your GP then it would be a good idea to discuss your problem with him/her, as Pat says. There is a strong move against using medication for sleep disorders for a number of reasons - these will be known by your doctor who will be able to offer advice on alternatives.Regarding the product you mention, don't get the idea that because it's herbal it must be harmless. Some of the most potent and violent poisons known are "herbal" - not that I'm suggesting these things are toxic, just don't think that they are harmless. catgate
One of the reasons for not getting to sleep is that you are not relaxed enough. For someone who has been quarrying snark down at the grunge foundry all day this is a rare thing, but for someone who has been sat at a desk, using hand and brain only all day. it can be a different story.A technique which was given to me many years ago has proved its value time and time again...if the brain will stop whizzing round long enough to remember it. It apparently originated with the "mystics" of central Asia when Adam was but a lad. It is all done from within by mind and "will".Lay on your back with your legs slightly apart (just not touching) and with your arms similarly slightly away from your body with fingers spread and palms down. Now let your neck muscles relax. Then move your mind/conciousness to your right arm. Allow the muscles of the upper arm to relax, and be conscious of each muscle doing it, a slight movement of the arm may help. Move on to the fore arm and repeat the process, again being as conscious as possible of the relaxation. Next the hands and all the fingers in turn. After the right arm move to the right leg and, just as with the arm, start with the muscles of the upper leg and using the same technique work down to the toes.Follow this, in exactly the same manner, with the left leg. Then, surprise, surprise, do the left arm the same way. When this has been done cross over diagonally to the right leg again. pausing only for a moment to ensure that the sphincter is not "screwed up tight".Go over the preceding routine with each limb until you arrive back, and complete, the right shoulder.Another diagonal move to the left leg and go round the roundabout again finish up at the right leg.Another diagonal movement across to the left arm and round again and out after doing the left leg.In the initial stages of using this technique, and even sometimes later when you have "mastered "it, your mind can wander away from remembering what you are doing. Come back to it and start again.I was told the method was designed for the training of the mind and relaxing it at the same time. How true that is I know not. But I do know that done properly it works very well and I still use it myself, very often going to sleep before finishing the routine. If you notice all the female sex are more irritable in the afternoon. This is caused by Post Meridian Tension. Simple as that.

AM - PMAnti Meridian - Post Meridian (Meridian = Midday/noon)Therefore Post Meridian must be equal to afternoon (Post-after, Meridian-noon) :DThe AM / PM - Anti (Ante?) Meridian (Meridiem?) basics are quite clear. The confusing thing is why 12AM is midnight, and 12PM is noon...? Like 10AM, 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, ... it makes no sense to me...The 00:00 ~ 24:00 system holds no confusion whatsoever.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I think I've just found why 12AM & 12PM is so confusing; they should have started with 0!If 00PM was used instead of 12PM, and 00AM instead of 12AM, then all would be clear as well.It was the same thing in the year 2000, when some people stated that actually 2001 was the beginning of the Millennium. Of course, the idiots started to count with 1 instead of 0 (making Jesus' birth his 1st birthday by that method), and all the confusion ensued thereafter... Hb_Kai
Just to let everybody know... :)I took one out of the recommended two of these tablets last night about 5 or 6ish AM. (I get late nights a lot. :) ), and it knocked me out completely. I was asleep until 7:30PM!So they work, and I'm happy I didn't take two. But they made my head feel a little weird at first, and then my whole body was feeling heavy. It's like I was tired, but not tired as tired should be. If that makes sense. . .
