Microsoft finalizes Windows 7 - CNET newsBut is it finished or just rushed out like the othersRushed out?Vista wasn't rushed out as there was nearly 6 years between XP (October 25, 2001) and Vista (January 30, 2007)Windows 7 will have been released in only around 3 years (ETA: October 22, 2009) after Vista's release so you could argue that it's been rushed out but I expect Microsoft will make sure that the Windows 7 launch goes smoother than the launch of Vista which didn't go down well with the general public. Even XP remains a work in progress and subject to updates.Windows 7 is based on the best parts of the Vista kernel - my experience with the pre-release version of Windows 7 satisfied me that it is fast, stable, very user friendly, runs all my software and has drivers for all my peripherals. I too have ordered the full version for both our computers.I've also run Windows 7 BETA and like yourself found it stable with no compatibility issues.I've not had any trouble with Vista either but this may have been different if I had used it at the Vista launch where it was plagued with incompatibilty problems, etc.I too have pre-ordered Windows 7 as £50 for a Retail version is a bargain, besides my quad-core processor will probably perform better on Windows 7 - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7Windows 7 includes a number of new features, such as advances in touch and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance, DirectAccess, and kernel improvements. Merely people who are cautious and prudent by waiting for the eager masses (of which I am a member) to provide the test bed for problem sorting. There are many things in life that you are entitled to dislike, criticise or not participate in - without having to first try them out. I don't consider that it is compulsory to rush to be first with everything, when what you already have is doing a perfectly good job. Not everyone is made of money.
