I've seen this sort of thing before - but not for quite such a high amount.

It is, apparently, a method of discouraging potential buyers when an item is out of stock but when new stock is expected. It is easier and cheaper for the seller to do this than to remove the sales pitch and then re-install when stock arrives. I don't know why this is better than just telling the truth - "out of stock" but, there you are.
