johnoo
I have just downloaded the latest AVG software, version 9.0.709.I am now noticing that the Amber LED on my Asus is flashing on and off all of the time, I did not notice it as regular as this before. If I look at the CPU usage graph CTl/Alt/Del it is showing betrween 1/3% until i change web pages then it goes up to about 20/30%I have 1.5GB of RAM, a AMD 7750 Dual Core.Have I anything to worry about?or are these figures about normal? Thanks in advance
AlanHo
The internet seems to be awash with problems caused by AVG 9. Take a look at the AVG Forum for more infoClick hereI recently changed to Micrsoft Security Essentials and note on other technical forums that many other people have done so. Irene
When I updated to V9.0 It affected certain images in both FF & IE8.I uninstalled it and reinstalled 8.5 and all was fine again! Must take a look at the one you mention Alan.

Must take a look at the one you mention Alan.Mine works ok in this respect, it is version 707, and then updated to 709.Problem with keeping to 8.5 is that update support goes from 1st dec, (perhaps)also can report that with v9 scans are about 30% quicker, if you let it optimise on installation

Lamb Chop
AVG free is useless get rid of it - it has let me down and many others too.Avast is the best of the free although many favour Avira - tried that - went back to Avast. never has let me down over the years I have used it.Recently tech took it off put on AVG free 8.5 and gave me back a computer with 2 virus's. Irene
On my new PC with Windows 7 Home, I am using Microsoft Security Essentials...It's free - stopped two Trojans in real time - updates through the same 'gate' as Windows Updates.I must admit that the update to AVG 9 caused me a number of problems in XP. However, I am perfectly happy with MSE and Windows 7.
