AlanHo Posted March 31, 2010 Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 This is yet another example of how out of touch magistrates are and the appalling standard of justice being meted out by our judicial system.Letting off such serious criminals with light sentences - tantamount to a light tap on the wrist - is a disgrace. A long custodial sentence should have been applied here to act as a deterrent to other heartless criminals that might be tempted to take advantage of children or otherwise commit petty crime. The local council are to be applauded for their diligence in pursuing the case and spending only £20,000 of tax payers money on its prosecution.... The old dear who sold the animal was not encouraging animal cruelty. Quite the opposite. The responsibility for the child's actions rest entirely with its parent(s).Taking this silly idea further I see no reason for not prosecuting the person who supplied the shop with hamsters/gerbils/parrots etc. with "aiding and abetting" or "facilitating crime". This could also be applied to Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling, Merv. King and co. for "aiding and abetting" or "facilitating crime" by supplying the Financial Scandal Industry with money (money that did not exist).
