She wasn't in the best of spirits though.Yesterday afternoon about four o'clock I got a telephone call from my son to say she had been taken to the Borders General Hospital with a broken right forearm. She had been playing on her trampoline in the back garden and was jumping up and down, as you do, when she found herself coming down head first and put her arms out to save herself at which point the right forearm decided to break, both bones, about three inches below the elbow. As she explained today " If I hadn't have put my arms out to save myself I could have broken my neck". Logic I suppose, better to have a broken arm than a broken neck. As things turned out, because of the distance involved to get to the Hospital the chappy surgeon bloke that did the plastering had gone home so she had to stay in overnight to be seen to this morning, so my Daughter-in-law had to stay with her. They eventually got home at about 14:00 hrs this afternoon after being x-rayed and plastered and the usual medication being dispensed. I took a couple of photo's of the great time everyone was having at her party. This is Heather thoroughly getting into the mood and swing of things.This is Heather with 'Er in bed, out of bed for the occasion. Judging by Heathers face she must have been on the Gin and Tonics in the kitchen.Ah well. She's getting next week off school as she has to go back to the Hospital on Tuesday to get the plaster checked and she has to keep it on for eight weeks at least.I don't think she will ever forget her 12th Birthday. Pass on my regards.She is left handed Doug so shouldn't be much of a problem with most things.All the very best to her. As she said, better her arm than her neck.In a sense I suppose it's a reflex action when anyone starts to fall, they automatically stick their arms out as a break. In this case it did exactly that. OUCH!!Is it plastered in that position? I had one of them - VERY inconvenient! It was my right arm too.It's within about three inches of her shoulder at the top of the plaster. She was feeling a lot of discomfort yesterday but I think she will eventually get used to it. Catgate PM'd me with a useful remedy that I have passed on which will help speed things up.I do hope she get well quickly.It looks most inconvenient and uncomfortable.It's both of those catgate. I noticed yesterday there was a little bit of swelling around the top of the arm above the cast. This has probably been caused through the bruising at the break. They both came a cropper.
