bludgard Posted February 19, 2011 Report Share Posted February 19, 2011 Since I joined this Forum,I have greatly honed my skills at the troubleshooting and problem solving of computing machines.I have been encouraged and at times-once I think (by MANEMAN)- hand led to certain solutions to problems.I would in fact consider myself to be a noob,for I am quite ignorant of most operations going on in the background of a computer.I would have to say that most advice I have given here has been knowledge either gained from trial and error,or research conducted on various topics.As well as parroting advice given by other members of Windows Forum.;) I have said it before and I shall say it again.I am truly grateful to not only the members here,but for the differing personalities represented by said members.This Forum has directly affected my decision to further my education in Information/Technology.I have enrolled in a university to expand my knowledge base.I am going through the pre-admission phase and expect to begin classes the first week of March.I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew.I'm in my mid forties now and am not as keen as I once was.So saying,if I learn anything worthwhile,I shall bring it to the Forum table.If not then I shall continue posting useless material as usual.:P I probably will not post as often as I have been until I get settled into the school routine,but optimally my posts will contain more substance.Thanks once again Windows Forum.You are the greatest in my book.One Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bludgard Posted February 20, 2011 Author Report Share Posted February 20, 2011 Thanks,Gandalph.Being an ironworker yourself,you know that this is a trade that isn't fit for the elderly.I am fast approaching and I see a certain need to make a career change.Trade-skills in the US has been falling off drastically in the past few years and if 2012 is all a bunch of crap,at least I'll be able to provide the wife with some security.That is all that really matters to me.i should have made this decision years ago.However,I only started dicking around with computers since this time last year.I must admit that I do have some anxiety over this but have in the past been able to pick up on things fairly quickly.I am relying on this ability to see me through.I will probably have to put away the only vice I have left for awhile,but then that is what sacrifice is all about I suppose.;) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bludgard Posted February 20, 2011 Author Report Share Posted February 20, 2011 I employ the vice in such a fasion as to extrude the essence of great knowledge and understanding from the very fabric of realiy.It is an extremely useful tool when set about by confusion and doubt.Now that I think about it,I believe I'll hold onto this vice for a bit longer.It has been a faithful companion of mine since the age of 8.I do hate goodbyes....Holding his printed circuit boards while he solders a new component onto it. :D And this as well.... Will it work on 64 bit I ask?I do know that AnyVideoConverter runs on X64 systems.It has a "Download" option that may not be as comprehensive as iWisoft,but seems to work well for me.I have batch downloaded over 4GB of The Two Ronnies and burned it to DVD with no problem. Even 1TB are quite cheap now?Hi,andsome,I have a 320 GB USB HDD.I mainly use this for backups of not only my own machine,but also before and after images of those machines that have been entrusted to me to fix or reinstall as well.My Windows 7 machine has a 250 GB HDD which is only about half filled with clutter.I think that this will be enough to get me by the first year.I am certainly wanting a larger external but I desperately want to upgrade my RAM to 4 GB first.I am hoping that Uncle Sam will buy me a new one for school.If so,I'll finally be able to build my own.:D I tell ya,I have been strugglin' and scrapin' for so long now that any change is welcome.Thanks for the input.It has got me pricing externals now. Certainly the people who asked for it wont be looking to criticise, but just for you to introduce yourself to them, and give them a little idea of what they will be working with.No criticism. But I think we should be saying, - "Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us" :)I have changed direction several times throughout my working career, and my youngest boy has just done a change from car sprayer after 20+ years to giving a go to running his own business doing something completely different.You'll both do good I'm sure. It was my first ever .doc.I tried to post it as .docx on the Forum, but it was rejected several times under differnt browsers.
