Alan2273
What has happened to Catgate, or is Maneman a catgate in drag , he has not posted since the beginning of February.
Boris
You must have been reading my thoughts ??? - I realised I hadn't seen him around when I was out earlier this afternoon
Gandalph
I've missed the fellow too. I hope there is nothing wrong in the catgate camp. If anyone has his e-mail address perhaps they could drop him a line or two and check up.

AlanHo
This is spooky - we all must be psychic. I mentioned catgate's absence in the "Message to Admin" thread yesterday. He is not the only member to go AWOL recently - can you recall the others?

catgate
I got a rather nice PM this morning from one of the WF “veterans” and as a result I came along and poked my head round the door (something that I have not done for a while). It is nice to be noticed, even if it is only by ones absence. So maybe I should explain this absence.I said to someone a while ago, in a PM, that I felt my presence on WF was a bit of a “cheat” because I no longer use any M$ product and so my limited knowledge of Mr. Gates' offerings stopped at W98SE. Thus I can neither give nor take anything of value in respect of WF's real reason d'etre. This leaves what can only be described as the “Social” and “Recreational” side of the forum. This side of the forum has declined enormously, due in my opinion to three reasons.1.The majority of non-S & R contributors have the urgency of youth and just need a quick O.S. fix, and on top of this M$ seem to be taking more care with the manufacture of their goods.2.Those people wanting everyday mundane S&R can find endless sites offering endless streams of mind deadening vacuity, populated by like minded souls.3.Many people find a basketful of smilies and a couple of words such as “Who cares!”, “So what!”, very infantile, and not in the least funny or constructive, (see above for example) and do not stay around too long. If so I am sorry that you have taken offence. I never post what you call a basket full of smilies to serious computer questions, only to jokes etc. With such posts a smilie or two is often sufficient to show the poster that you have read and appreciate the post, and further comment would be unnecessary. If a few smilies is sufficient to make someone stay away from the forum, then it is a sad world., and I suggest that lightening up is in order. If I can make a contribution to a serious question, then I always do so. No offence was meant at all with my post above. You have on frequent occasions been one of the most verbose posters, and this was the reason for my flippancy. There are others who still come her that make flippant remarks etc, and long may they do so.;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
