Why do they still do this

I'm becoming very irritated with the way things like petrol prices are displayed by quoting prices to the nearest 0.1 p e.g.136.9p/litre. It's now meaningless with prices at about 136.9 p/l. On a typical 40 litre fill the differece by "rounding" up to 140.0 per litre is 4 pennies. When the prices change they always change in 1p units - I have never seen 0.1 or 0.5p price changes. I feel it's an insult to our inteligence! The same thing happens with many other commodities.

Who are they kidding?

I've said the same thing for a long time now Doug.

It's the same when you walk into a furniture store. You will see a three piece suite for £999.99, to me that is £1000.00 pure and simple. It's purely a sales gimmick they have. A litre of petrol at 136.9 pence to me is 140.00 pence per litre.

A litre of petrol at 136.9 pence to me is 140.00 pence per litre.

So, using your conversion rate ..... if I send you £136,900 - you would send me £140,000 back. ;)

Is that in Scottish or English currency ?

If I could glean .01 cent from a million sentimental souls a day....

It's all a bunch of caca del toro. In for a penny, in for a pound.

I get aggravated when I get sold 20% more chips (free) when the actual weight has been debited 50%. Then the price goes up .25 cent a month later...and I can't wait till the next free 20% hits so I can afford another bag.
