Now I know I'm getting old. Just tripped up in the bedroom, and really crashed down hard, barked my right knee, skinning it enough to draw blood, and knocked my right wrist. I have got off very light really. I'm very lucky the wrist did not break. It was several minutes before I could manage to get up with the help of 'Er Indoors. A few years ago I would have bounded back onto my feet. I suppose however that getting old with all its consequences is better than the alternative.

Reminds me of Bob Hopes answer when asked Who'd want to live to be a hundred years old his answer was someone who's ninety nine.

Take each day and use it well you never know, a chap I'd been to school with dropped dead a couple of years ago, early fifties and I doubt he's the only one, just the one I've heard about.

A couple of months ago I slipped on the doorstep and twisted my knees and damaging yet further the arthitis there - and ending up in a heap on the ground. I am now unable to walk more that two steps without extreme pain, despite powerful analgesics and my part time wheelchair use is now permanent. The stairlift is being fitted next week.

I have not been out of doors in all this time. I'll have to get over this agoraphobic silliness soon.

I too have been feeling very sorry for myself recently. :(

For the past 18 months, it has constantly been one thing after another - I'll not bore you with the details. Some have been of a serious nature, others just simply and purely painful. I too, have become relatively housebound!

I must admit, I keep wondering what my body will throw at me next!

Take good care my friends, I value your presence here on the forum. ;)

Join the club. In February I had a fall in the kitchen and came down sideways hitting the top of my right arm against the edge of the worktop. Good job they where rounded off or the damage could have been a lot worse.

A few months on now and I'm still getting twinges in the top of my right arm.

It also took weeks before I could start to use it for typing or even makeing a cup of tea. I was having to do everything left handed.

As Irene say's, we all have to take care as we are getting on.

On a lighter note, but very much on the subject, here is a good read that I've just finished yesterday

Daniel Friedman: Don't Ever Get Old - very funny; read about it at http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13159897-don-t-ever-get-old

And about two years ago I enjoyed this one

Jonas Jonasson: The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared - see http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13486632-the-hundred-year-old-man-who-climbed-out-of-the-window-and-disappeared
