Boris
I was looking at the history of Jim Clark the racing driver and was using Google Earth to find the location of the museum about him (the Jim Clark Room - top left corner of the big pic) in Duns where he was born, when I noticed the strange thing (circled in red below) in the middle of Duns ! Anyone know what on earth it could be ? Secret government stuff ? Aliens ? Some sort of solar thing ?
Belatucadrus
Well the problem is that Google Earth satellites get their developing done by Happy snaps.
catgate
Gandalph is probably your man for information. I believe he lives in that part of the world.
Gandalph
Quite correct catgate. That particular piece of land is currently under development and it's just around the corner from me. At the moment an Earth Scrapper has just moved out and the water and electricity and waste mains has just been laid in. This has been going on for about five Month's now. The problem is, nothing has appeared in our local newspaper about the site to inform us what it is going to be. There is obviously something going to be built there, but no one knows what it is. Generally speaking we are always informed by our Local Council about roadworks and road closures, periods of time and reason for closures and all that, but not on this occasion. They just never bothered. Very strange everyone is thinking around here, "What the hell is it going to be" said my neighbour. No-one knows. I will keep the Forum posted on this one as soon as I get to know something. Also, at this time of the year we have "The Jim Clark Rally" with is generally held in May. Leaflets are put through out letter boxes from the organisers with a map of the Rally stages, Road closure dates and times. So far nothing. This information is normally given to us in the middle of April. Very strange. Will keep the Forum updated if and when I get any information on this weird going on. The Local Planning Office generally send out letters to residents living close to a development site along with a Map and drawing of the proposed premises that are going to be built to see if there are any planning objections. This never happened, and as already stated , it is just around the corner from me. I will try and take a photo of the site and post it here. Keep it hush as I think something sinister going on. It could be a new C.I.A or F.B.I building.

catgate
"It must be a digital aberration " I remember having a digital aberration when I was courting a young lady in days gone by.

You need to be slightly South-East towards Station Road then South a touch.
Belatucadrus
Like I said "Happy snaps"
AlanHo
Gandalph - I lined up the shots using the geographical coordinates. You can see in the original post that the flash occurs a few yards from the junction between Trinity Gardens and Trinity Lane - which is exactly where my image is aligned. There may well be a construction site nearby - but it does not appear to be where the flash is. Incidentally - the Google image was taken on 15th September 2012 - so it is more that 2 years ago.
