morty
I was wiling away my time on google street view, as you do .. and a funny thing happened. Never happened before. I ended up inside a shop. Yes, you read that right. Instead of turning I shot straight across the junction and into the facing shop. A pet shop. I was actually inside the shop and could turn around and see all the good on the shelves but couldn't get out of it so had to close the window. This is the trivia a pig engages in and finds amusing. AlanHo
Only a woman driver could do that. I am aware that Google Earth have people with cameras walking through main towns - but I was not aware they went inside properties in the UK yet Just found this link https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2011/10/google-street-view-now-takes-you-inside-buildings/336281/ I must tidy my study in case they come to the door. Where was this Morty - I would love to see it.
Belatucadrus
Usually commercial premises and some pubs, can be quite interesting. Check this one
morty
Hee..hee Here's the first link, I hope it works. https://www.instantstreetview.com/@53.085657,-2.259203,292.66h,5.48p,0.16z On that one, find the red car turning at the traffic lights and click on the shop front just above it. Then just go in through the open door. You can even walk around inside. It's accurate too. I've been in that shop. Here it is if you can't get in but want to have a wander around inside. You can't get back out through a wall you have to use the front door. https://www.instantstreetview.com/@53.085668,-2.259663,319.43h,-8.46p,0.16z

Check this one That's a good one. funny thing is I tried to get inside the other shops on mine .. and couldn't, though I did manage to get inside a beauty salon a bit further down the road, which was also at a junction. I'm glad my house isn't on one. I wonder if it's just a fluke, something to do with the camera mounted on the google car. Now I know why the Royals feel as they do about long lenses. Belatucadrus
Looking at the Google maps indoor view page, it looks as if Google are simply hosting image data provided by the owners of the places in question, though Google retain the right to edit it. AlanHo
Thanks Morty - most interesting. They are not using the car camera for the inside shots - they have a special 360 degree camera called the Google Trekker which is mounted on a small pylon with a stabilising device projecting up from a backpack. The camera can go anywhere the operator can walk - taking pictures as it goes along. You can also buy your own small Google 360 degree camera for about £450 - take your own pictures - and submit them for inclusion in Google earth. Why not borrow one and shoot the inside of your sty. morty
I'd never fancy the invasion of privacy Alan .. besides the innocuous pile of truffles stashed under the water trough (my bath) is one thing, as are my stilettos and shoe horns , but my undies hanging to dry on the hay ricks would become public property. How embarrassing would that be!
AlanHo
Morty You are being unduly fussy and coy - we have all seen such stuff before. I know it is hard to believe - but there have been times in my past when I have been accused of living in a pig sty. Oink.
Gandalph
That is amazing. Never seen anything like that in my life. Not on Google Earth anyway.
