Guest Drovers Dog
:P I hope that I have been here long enough for people to listen and understand just what I am talking about! This wonderful Forum needs more Members, that is painfully obvious, I will do my bit to bring as many Aussies into the fold as possible!!A really big problem! Is the Forum Staff seems to have the Pom version of the Aussie saying, "She'll be right, Mate, we'll fix it!"But it doesn't get fixed!!Classic example is my Member Number to actual Numbers!!This was a Thread months ago, yet it is still not fixed!!There seems to be people that come, deregister, then pop back up as another Name and Number? I am totally confused as to that, unless it is a genuine case of a really bad thing that I need not know about!!Just my thoughts to get a Topic started!! :innocent: :D

I am totally confused as to that, unless it is a genuine case of a really bad thing that I need not know about!!Just my thoughts to get a Topic started!! :innocent:Â :DThe membership number doesnt tally up with registered members as over the past year i have had requests to remove members, and i have also deleted members that havent posted for many months.Although the members become de-registered and all details removed from the forum, the database that the forum runs on cannot remove the initial membership number. For example, if we had 500 members, then member number 52 wanted to be removed, i can remove him/her, but membership number 52 would not come available again, as if it did, when member number 501 joins, he/she would have a membership number of 52.You follow me?With regards to members de-registering and registering again and again, this has been looked into, and WILL NOT happen again. Guest Drovers Dog
:P Thank you Craig!I diddn't start this Thread to cause trouble, just to generate meaningfull discussion amongst the Members, hopefully to fix problems that may, or maynot exist!!!Your input is very positive, and I salute you!! :innocent: :D
Guest ellas
member numbers count for nothing, theres forums I've joined and have only posted once,I would rather have 50 regular posters than 1000 who posted once in a blue moon, this is a problem at a lot of forums, for example this is a email from a forum where I have only posted once :D WELL WE ARE STILL GROWING AND AT A GREAT RATE...WE NOW HAVE OVER 6000 MEMBERSWE STILL NEED MORE CONTRIBUTERS THOUGH JUST A FEW PEOPLE POSTING IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH THAT MEANS WE HAVE ABOUT 5980 MEMBERS... NOW I DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE OTHER BOARDS AND GIVE 1 FORUM UNTILL YOU POST SO MANY TIMES AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO BAN PEOPLE FOR NOT POSTING BUT WE CAN'T HAVE JUST A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE DO EVERYTHING WHILE OTHERS SIT BACK WE ASK FOR ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF YOUR TIME TO FIND SOMETHING TO POST IN RETURN....SO COME MARCH FIRST EVERYONE WITH LESS THAN 20 POSTS WILL BE DELETED FROM THE BOARD .....HOW YOU GET YOUR 20 POSTS IS ON YOU...AND THAT DOESN'T MEAN POP IN ONE DAY AND POST 20 THANKS MESSAGES...OR THEY WILL ALL BE DELETED AND YOU CAN START OVER AGAINI'M NOT DOING THIS TO BE AN ASS....ONE LAST BIT OF BAD NEWS....FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH THE SIGS THAT HAVE THE ANIMALS AND MAN HOLDING THE SIGN SHOWING PEOPLES IP WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED BY FEB.5 2004....TO MANY COMPLAINTS AND THE MAJORITY RULE...SORRY GUYS....NOW ONE LAST THING BEFORE I LET YOU GO...WE ARE LOOKING FOR MODERATORS...JUST A FEW....SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE A MOD YOU NEED TO PM ME WITH A MESSAGE STATING WHY YOU WOULD MAKE A GOOD MOD AND HOW MUCH TIME EACH WEEK YOU CAN SPEND DOING IT..I WILL THEN GET WITH THE OWNER OF THE BOARD AND WE WILL DISCUSS WHO WILL GET IT....THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...ADMIN
Guest Drovers Dog
:P Hey, People don't get me wrong!!!!I learned before most of you, excluding Andsome, and a few old timers, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the Kitchen!"What I am trying to say, "Something seems to be broke!! Let's ALL try to HELP to fix it!!"BTW When people really listen to serious advice they learn heaps!! :innocent: :D
-pops-
This problem doesn't rate very highly in the scheme of things either here or anywhere else.I know of a forum that boasts over 130,000 members. Only a few people bother to contribute (I used to be one of them) and most of the membership is a single "post and go" where thay have a specific problem, join the forum membership, ask about said problem and are never heard of again. The forum in question prides itself in having such a large membership even though most of it is quiescent, non existent or even banned from posting. artist
Of course it would be nice to have more members - but the main problem on here is that not enough people have the time(?) or don't feel the inclination to contribute any comments. Ok - it probably is a bit lightweight sometimes, but how boring to be serious all the time. We can go to other forums for that.I like the homely feel about this one and the fact that we don't get TOO heavy about religion, politics etc. There are other forums for those thing too. :)

ranger
Out of curiosity Ellas, after March how long does a new member have to reach 20 posts? some people do like to stay in the background for a while to get used to a forum and see the way it's members think, just wonderin how log you'll give them
djohn
I also like the way the forum works, Proud to be a member, even though I don't post a lot. :( I keep logged in most of the day, into the early hours of the morning and try to read all the post. The only thing that confuses me is. When I log in and see anything from 10-20 members on-line, but can't see any new post being made.At times, its as if everyone is sat waiting for someone else to make the first move. By the time I get to a thread, everyone else seams to have moved on. :( I started this post saying I like the forum and how it works, must add the members are a great bunch of people too. If I had the choice in any alteration, it would be a very minor one. Fewer forums, so that there would be more activity in the ones left. I'm sure some could be merged without loosing the effectiveness of them.I might even be able to find my way round a bit quicker as well! :dummies:
bvw
Djohn..I use the "Today's Active Topics" all the time and just refresh that page, saves clicking around the various forums. Seems to work OK for me.
