Toyotas are very reliable in my experience. Have got access to trade prices (what garages use to price stuff) from Oct last year but know that in most cases they haven't changed 'that' much so if you give us some examples of what you have found may be able to find out what you should be paying. I've had three of them, all from new kept each one for three years and the only fault was a number plate light failed on the day I was exchanging the car. Smooth to drive, quiet, and good mileage. Excellent visibility [Reversing] Extra light power steering, clutch so light that can be pressed down with your little finger. [Not recommended while driving] :P Look for an ex Motability car. They are changed at three years old and are in first class condition. All services have been done correctly and nothing skimped on. Many have a very low mileage 9000-15000 at three years old. I changed up to a Vauxhall Zafira [Automatic] three years ago due to the need to carry my scooter in the rear, even this one has only 16000 miles on the clock and is as new but I will be picking up my new one on the first of March. ranger Posted March 2, 2004 Report Share Posted March 2, 2004 I have a clio sport, (since new, 2yrs 2 months old) not had any trouble with it, My son had a Fiat (Fix It Again Tomorrow) Punto, overheated 2 weeks after he got it and engine had to be skimmed, couple of months later, it started misbehaving again, after lots of trial and error fixing by Fiat dealer, eventually problem turned out to be Lamda Sensor (I think that's the name they gave it) but after that it went like a dream.Daughter has a Volkswagen Polo, thought the clutch had gone on it on Sunday, taken to a local garage today and told that pedal box frame had snapped in half, garage also said that this should never happen to that age of car (W reg 2000) and that they had only seen this problem in VW Golfs over 10 years old, phoned dealer I bought it from this evening, and they said that the car was now out of warranty and they would have to speak to VW customer services who may give them authority to fix it FOC or make a contribution towards fixing it, when I mentioned what my local garage had said, they replied that they had seen a few with this problem, hopefully that means they will fix it FOC, looks like it's maybe a problem that's not to well known Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Blink_182_fan Posted March 2, 2004 Report Share Posted March 2, 2004 yeah they are good cars just warning you about the 307 because it wouldnt be a nice thing if it happened to anyone but they have appaently fixed all the dogedy ignitions and there has been no problems with 306s good steady cars my cousin has one and he loves it but he went and spent all this money on bodykits and underlighting for it. its a pretty cool car hes got(unfortunaly he regrets it now as hes almost broke :P) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had a Nova before, and so test drove the Corsa - but I just didn't like the feel of it, or the sitting position. I found that there were several of the smaller cars that I just didn't feel comfortable sitting in - and, being not that tall, some were better than others at letting you get close enough to the pedals to reach them, but not so close you were head butting the windscreen! If and when they break, they are the easiest to get fixed (despite having transverse engines) because they are domestic. Imports are becoming cheaper to repair, but still ain't got diddly on Ford.Never owned a Vauxhall.Take a look at the small Peugeots too. :) Happy hunting.
