Boris
No - its not a back-up stick ! CT6464Z335 -should be OK.When you get the new 512 one - stick it in Slot 1 and put the others in slots 2 +
nellie2
I've just bought some RAM from Crucial and I found their site excellent. You can input your specs and they will tell you what sort of memory you need!!! :) I had a little help from my friends here before I went there though. Boris
Yep - but its next day delivery included at that price + 30 day money back if it doesn't work. When I've got enough pennies to eventually upgrade to the rest of my signature spec wish list - thats where I'm going for mine ! Until then I'm making do with 512 PC133 SD-RAM - but my Asus board takes both types !

spikeychris
The most common misconception is "adding a shed load of RAM will make my machine fly"..not true. What it will do is allow you to multitask, as in run a few programs at the same time without loosing performance. Your motherboard also makes a major difference, the speed of your North peer will effect how it runs, think of the peer as a road, the width and quality will affect the data transfer.Blink_182_fan, you say that games load faster, well I wouldn't know but once you have tipped the scales then adding more RAM would not make a difference as the game has to time its way in.All in all I would say that if your not a video editor and run single apps of IE and Word etc: then you don't need a Gig of RAM. nellie2
I must admit since loading my extra ram my computer isn't any more whizzy than it was...... but I tend to have at least 10 explorer windows open and about 3 to four programs sitting in my taskbar at any one time...not including the ones running in the background. The extra ram deals with all that lot very nicely thank you very much!!! B)
Chris
It helps games because the majority of games use the page file if there is not the RAM for its needs
spikeychris
Yeah I should imagine that they have to use VM but loading a game won't make a difference.....

Chris
No i agree with you on that!I'm just saying that adding more RAM to a limit will improve game loading.
spikeychris
Thats the issue isn't it, once you have enough RAM to load the game at its optimum speed (which will depend on the programmers) then adding more will not effect the load up time.
