Before you wash unless it is a wet/dry razor (then you can use it in the shower or something like that).

Personally I believe shaving is something created by the devil and the sooner the world accepts the beard as part of life the better!

Should add you have in all of this assumed that the person using the razor will at some point wash. A dangerous assumption to make

I don't own a razor or shaver. I've had a full beard for 40+ years and shaving would be very strange to me.

I do trim my beard with clippers - now promoted to electric clippers but that is not the same thing and is independent of my daily ablutions.

Tried several electric shavers many years ago, and found washing first was best, as it removed the natural oil from the skin surface. I honestly don't think that you will get anywhere near as good a shave as with a wet razor. I use a Gillette Mach three.

Military Hygiene States that you must always fully wash your face before shaving. This applies to both wet and dry methods..

Reason: To remove all surface germs/bacteria from skin in case you cut yourself while shaving.

Reminds me of an incident recently with two ederly gentlemen in a toilet.

The first finished his business and went straight to the door.

"Oy!" said the second gent, "When I was in the Army, they taught us to wash our hands after going to the toilet."

"Well," replied the other. "When I was in the Navy, they taught us not to pee on our hands!"

B) :o :P :D
