moon
Madrid AtrocitiesWe need a different form of justice for terrorists and suspects. They shelter within our society and hide within our human rights.
Tankus
suspects ?Not too sure how this is going to play out ...Max Clifford , has been hired by one of them....IRA terrorists released .......for the peace process ...?Perhaps the UK should reinstate the death penalty .....?IN Madrid some of the bombs were delayed in order to kill the emergency services ....Something the IRA did too...! Hurdy
Convicted terrorists should be dealt with severely I agree.Suspects are and always should be exactly that - suspects. What the Americans are doing in Camp X-Ray is despicable and no better than any of the tyrannical regimes found around the world. That they are doing in so in the name of freedom and democracy is laughable.Democracy must defeat terrorism but if democracy itself is compromised then it will be a hollow victory. Tankus
Lots of legal wrangling coming up ......What the Americans are doing in Camp X-Ray is despicable and no better than any of the tyrannical regimes found around the world.Going to be harder and harder to take the " moral high ground "
Guest Blink_182_fan
IRA terrorists released .......for the peace process ...?i don't think thats on the IRA and loyalist terrorist groups have been terrorising since the 70s in northern Ireland and a couple of decades later a solution is brought up and the consequence of that was the government released a lot of prisoners and all these people are terrorists and now theres a row over it about changing it
Tankus
Yep.... loyalist terrorists too .....glad you pointed that out Blink ....Not many weapons from any side seem to have been destoyed ...?

I just cannot understand the argument that after going through two tough years in captivity, that they have already been through enough. If there is ANY suspicion at all then trials are called for. Tankus
Governing Spanish Popular party has lost the election ......Final result show socialists on top......just ..there may be a co alition governmentBBCIts been suggested that the partys blame of ETA for the atrocities may have swung the vote , as they have been seen to try to have taken advantage of it .Its looks like the terroists have changed the face of Spanish politics .. ranger
I don't think a civilised society will ever defeat terrorists for the simple fact these people use that society's morals and laws only when it suits them, ie: when they are caught or some of their members are killed by security forces they squeal from the rooftops about their human rights, but then ignore the human rights of men, woman and children to live a safe and peaceful life. Our security forces hands are tied by the laws we have and these Bastards know it and use them against us, probably like me, some of you have friends/relations in the army, in the past I have spoken to them about the troubles in NI, and most of them said that the security forces know who a lot of the terrorist are, but as they had to go by the law they couldn't touch them and these people laughed in their faces as they knew it.On the terrorists in NI, I was in Belfast last August for a five day holiday with my wife (what a beautiful city it is, I would recommend anyone to go there for a visit) on speaking to a few of the locals, the view that was coming across was that the loyalist and nationalist terror groups were now more interested in selling drugs, sex and suchlike and protecting their "turf" to make money than fighting for any cause and that the majority of any troubles or killing was more to do with this than anything else now. andsome
It was pretty obvious that when the Spanish government insisted in blaming Eta despite the tape from Alquida, they would end up loosing votes. They were obviously trying to drum up more support for their campaign. None of us likes terrorism, but we also dislike dishonesty in government, as Cheesy will find out in Britain. Tankus
Brings a just a bit nearer home , doesn't it ....Londonstani is just ripe ....Security on trains ...? we cannot even collect fares ...terroists come too an fro from anywhere, as there are no boarders , they just come in with a piece of paper stating that they intend to set up a business .......regime and foreign policy change in Spain caused by a few train bombs a few days before an election has just made next May /June , a very dodgy time to use London terminals .....One train derailment on the central (tube) line last year took 6 months to sort out , and seriously disrupted the whole of the north eastern London transport system ...London can be shut down with a far higher number of deaths (Spanish trains are not filled up worse than cattle transportation as the Uk ones are) ... for less effort on their part .......The Spanish elections have made the world a considerably unsafer place . Besty
Terrorists should be dealt with harshly in some cases death should be the optionPeople are all concerned about the trains being attacked and stuff but there is alot more ways the terrorists can attack. As for the peace process it didnt seem to work even after tony blair and all them :censored: have huffed and puffed about it. I dont see how it will ever work now
Guest Blink_182_fan
it never was going to work. Who in their right mind would let prisoners out who were put in jail for terrorism a bit stupid

I disagree. The illegal invasion of Iraq made the world an unsafer place. The Spaniards are the 1st population to have their opinions counted and decency prevailed. Good for them. The sooner this mockery of a coalition totally collapses the better.
Redhat
IMO the New Spanish Government has just said to Al-Qa'ida "terrorism works - we bomb you and you cave in" ... disgusting IMO... but the unjust war was also disgusting..
Tankus
Don't blame the Spanish at all ....They joined in at the behest of their government ,not at the will of the general population....Its just how it looks like to the terrorists ..... It will been seen as a victory for their methods ....Not as a democratic right of the electorate expressing their distrust and disagreement in the actions of their government ...It strikes me as more than a few parallels here in the UK .... Particularly after one of the biggest demonstrations ever seen in this country was over our involvement with the US in Iraq .... Terrorism before an election has been given the appearance of working .....It was a big mistake ( but I can see why ) for the government to keep blaming ETA , even while evidence was coming to light to suggest otherwise....The Popular party got voted out because they could not be trusted ....... How vulnerable is B'liar over this .....?
Damo
I see now that Tony Blair has lost another ally, in the form of the old spanish prime minister, then in november he'll lose Bush when he comes second in the USAs elections! Tankus
Well ......we better get ourselves sorted over the future of Iraq well before the US elections , as there will be a big sea change in US foreign policy if Kerry gets in ....I would hate to see British troops holding the fort ,as our bullshitter in chief wants to feel the hand of history on his shoulder and want to be seen as a "world leader " regardless of the consequences ....... Could the Kerry administration do the same as the Spanish one ....?
Sir T Fireball
I think a deal to pass the reins over to the UN will be made long before November 2004. Thus giving them all a get-out.The coalition leaders may be stupid, but they ain't idiots :D
