Saw a bit on this in the business section of Sky News. Seems they are concentrating on closing down on the high street mainly where they have Curry's outlets as well, also because of the high rates and poor parking facilities.

It seems as though their out of town retail parks are dong very well especially PC World.

Towns all over the country are complaining about 'out of town' retail parks killing the town centres yet they continue to pedestrianise these same town centres thus cutting off trade to shops whose rates continue to rise.

So who's doing the killing?

Very good point .....plus red routing ...A lot of branches now expect to get a parking ticket as part and parcel of their trade deliveries....

Our local Town, Berwick on Tweed had Dixon's, Curry's and Comet within a half mile of each other. I went down to our usual grocery store about four week's ago and all was well, however, the following week Comet had closed down and there wasn't a trace they had ever been there and that was in six day's.

The manager of the Dixon's store is obnoxious. I went in a couple of months ago and asked him if he had a mini six pin to nine pin female converter (PS/2 to Comm 1) and he said "Now why would you want one of those" in a Sergeant-major sort of way. I just spun round and walked out. I've just heard tonight that the Berwick branch is in line for closure which will be good news in a small place as it will give the other PC and mobile phone shops a bigger slice of the cake where I must admit the staff are very much knowledgeable than that thick-head in Dixon's.

I must admit that from time to time I wander into Dixon's in Lichfield, and have a look round. Invariably an assistant approaches me, and I do get a sought of sadistic pleasure in asking him or her questions that they almost certainly cannot answer.
