-pops-
I downloaded via Firefox and it was OK. I also made a copy to CD with no problems. Not yet installed though.
Redhat
I believe there is a (great IMO) setting that when your thirdparty firewall stops the xp firewall immediately starts, thus keeping you protected automatically.
expertec
I hope you can disable that
Redhat
I'm not sure, but for newbies I think its a good idea. Prevents Blaster etc..
expertec
Yeah, ok. But I would like the option to disable that, sometimes people disable firewalls for good reasons.
Rebel=UK=
I can tell you now that the Windows firewall is going to be the target for every hacker about. Your better off using anything but that.

NeonWizard
I have one more question. This update isn't like a clean install, is it? Do you have ot install everything from the hard disk again? Or does it just update your current Windows?

NeonWizard
Ok. One more question. On the MS site, it says that people that are running on a network should apply the current service pack. But can that patch be operated on a single computer also? I don't really care about the size, I just want to get over with it, to see what problems arise and fix 'em fast. Can the current pack run aon a single computer, or do Ihave to wait until MS releases it via Windows update?
expertec
I believe you can run that current fix on a single computer, yes. Try it :)
NeonWizard
Nah, I'll think I'll wait on this one. I've been reading on sites and some forums on the problems that they got with it, increased boot time, not booting at all, IE hanging up on web pages. I'll wait until Microsoft releases the version over Windows Update, hopefully they'll fix some of ther bugs.

shield
Just to throw out a question here. Does anyone run ServicePack4 on Windows 2000 pro and does the SP4 run kinda faulty or give anyone problems after installed?
nellie2
Before I had XP I was running W2k pro with service pack 4. I had no problems at all!

andsome
Got my copy in the post yesterday :D Back shelf for now.. let's wait a few months ;)WHY? There have been VERY few problems that I have heard of. There are far more problems occurring because of the flaws that SP2 is designed to patch. djohn
Yep! mine came on Friday morning in the same post as PCA mag with a copy on the cover disk. Redhat
WHY? There have been VERY few problems that I have heard of. There are far more problems occurring because of the flaws that SP2 is designed to patch.Because I use this system for critical coursework, and I'm at the moment avoiding all major changes to the system before I've completed all the work :)
