artist Posted September 13, 2004 Report Share Posted September 13, 2004 I'm looking after my daughter's house rabbit.He's gone all quiet. We've had him for two weeks and he's been ok up to now.He hasn't eaten anything this morning and has settled in a corner of the hall. Usually he sits either in or just outside the cage.He is moulting - My birds go a bit moody when they do - could that be it?I saw him chewing on some newspaper yesterday - could that be a problem?I don't want to take him to the vet un-necessarily.I looked on google but they are on about deceases - I can't believe that's the trouble.Any thoughts on this would be welcome.(Andsome - I don't want a recipe for rabbit stew!) andsome Posted September 13, 2004 Report Share Posted September 13, 2004 You have to be very careful NOT to over feed domesticated bunnies. I forget the name of the particular disease that this causes. When I was a nipper many, many, many years ago, we killed a pet bunny by over feeding. artist Posted September 13, 2004 Author Report Share Posted September 13, 2004 Bertie Bunny is at the vet hospital - they did blood tests and think it could be kidney related.He's got to have an anesthetic so thay can look at his teeth too. I don't think thats a problem - he ate everything last night.They just rang again - teeth ok - seems he's a bit dehydrated. Staying in overnight to have some fluids via a drip.Poor old thing.
