I am grieving

Today is closure of this thread - it is my wife's funeral this afternoon which will be attended by about 100 people - including many friends who have flown in from abroad. One couple from as far away as Australia.

Sad day - but enriched by meeting so many old friends.

Just thought I would share it with you

Very sad day for you Alan. However I firmly believe that a funeral is an essential part of the mourning process, it enables you to draw a line under a sad event and look to the future. I feel desperately sorry for those who loose loved ones, and cannot have a funeral, because they are missing, as in times of war etc. I hope that everything goes off smoothly. I will be thinking of you and your family today.

All our good wishes go to you on this sad day, Alan.

As andsome says, the funeral is an essential part of mourning and not until it is over can you then look forward to the future.

An uncle was buried yesterday so I do have a very small hint of what you must be feeling now.

We too had a funeral yesterday. It was another of my wife's brothers. Unfortunately he had cut himself off from people for most of his life. He only worked for two years in the 40 that I knew him. The remaining brothers and my wife and myself attended. The sad part about it all was that it was the end of a wasted life. I took on the job of his attorney and handled his affairs, also I am his executor, and have to attend to his will. There are thousands in the world who would have given anything to enjoy the good health that he had for over 80 years. It is unfortunately not possible for us to mourn for him personally, only for a life wasted.
