trackrat
So they are going to get married.I have just been watching Central news and a poll said 67% were against it, I wonder how many of those 67% have been married twice. If his children are happy for him why should people be against it, surely if it makes a lonely man happy what does it matter.I say good luck to him.Years ago when the church was a lot stronger it probably would have been a different matter but not today. madboy33
Good luck to themHowever, Camilla should be Princess of WalesAlso why should she not be Queen? Down the ages alot Kings have re-married and there wives have become Queens (not consort)I mean HenryXIII made the C.O.E and married/remarried/married etc etc so why should Camilla only be consort i ask you? The Grump
Charles is one of the royal family who does not have money of the taxpayer as his income comes from the Duchy of Corwall. He has money indirectly off the taxpayer as the Duchy of Cornwall is tax-exempt.The royal family are all a bunch of spongers. andsome
How on earth anyone can be even remotely interested in these over hyped over paid leeches is utterly beyond understanding. The duchy of Cornwall has been mentioned. By what right does jug ears get that income? All this business dates back to feudal times. The strongest person physically became leader of the gang, and as they beat up their opponents so they became more powerful and leader over more people. This is how royalty and the aristocracy began and perpetuated. In this day and age it's about time that we came to our senses and stopped supporting these hangers on. I just cannot understand how people can bring themselves to stand in a formal line waiting to be presented to these people, and then to demean themselves by bowing or curtsying. The so called royals and aristocrats have NOT come about their wealth honestly. They have lived upon the backs of so called subjects long enough. NO, I am not a left winger, my politics are normally a little right of centre, but it's about time these people were stopped from taking millions of pounds per annum for waving at people as they are driven past in their chauffeur driven limos. andsome
The royal family are all a bunch of spongers. So are MP's and there cronies, but who said life is fair.At leas M.P's are elected and can be got rid of at the next election. Whether we like it or not, we have to have government. WE DO NOT NEED ROYALTY OR ANY OTHER HANGERS ON.
don't ask
They divorced long ago ;)Aaahh, I see! So no shades of the case of a previous heir to the throne and his divorcee then?Goodness how times change! (Actually I think I see it more as "the goalposts have been changed again" - or is it the case that lessons have been learned from first time around?) :ninja:

(Actually I think I see it more as "the goalposts have been changed again" - or is it the case that lessons have been learned from first time around?)If Edward VII and Mrs Simpson were allowed to continue in their royal rôles we wouldn't be now lumbered with the present dysfunctional shower and the whole concept of a monarchy may not be subject to such ridicule as it is nowadays. -pops-
OK, I missed and "I" out. I shall go and flagellate myself. :) You cannot say how good the abdicated monarch would have been because he was not able to demonstrate his regality. The whole concept of a monarchy is so anachronistic, even going back as far as the nineteenth century, that the whole lot of them should be taken to an island somewhere and left to their own devices. As for " anyone who could do the job better" in reference to the current incumbent, what job?
andsome
We could well do without the whole pathetic family of spongers and hangers on. Regarding the prospect of President Blair, UGH!!, but at least his family wouldn't follow in his footsteps at several hundred million pounds a year.
