What was No.1 on the day you were born?

The singles chart was not born until Nov 1952. The early number 1s of the 50s were based on sheet music sales.

The Number 1 single was:

Frank Sinatra • Jo Stafford - "Goodnight Irene"

I remember it well...........

Surely top tens, fifties or hundreds or whatever, are completely pointless. I cannot see any point in buying a record because it happens to be in some chart or other. Surely the sensible thing is to buy it if YOU like it, not because quite a few other people do. Are you telling me that you pop fans buy everything that is in the top ten, just because it happens to be there? Does it really matter to you, that a tune HAS to be in the top whatever?

They had not invented the pop chart when I was born.

Cannot stop for long as I am on holiday in spain but had to have a quick fix.

Will look in later in the week.

OY stop stealing our sun..... where abouts are you ?

A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum.  Excellent song Curly, try to get hold of a copy.  :)

I wouldn't even know what it sounds like as I was still a baby when it was No 1 :D

I wasn't even born, but I know that song (have done for years)... it is very good :)

In Marbella, at the Marbella Playa hotel.

It is hot here, better than the wind and rain I left behind. :D
