I don't know whether they bothered with such things as pop charts in 1936, and I don't really care anyway. It won't make an earth shattering difference to me. I don't like the rubbish in today's pop charts.

Most of it is bad copies of older stuff, i prefer the originals.

Be My Love

Mario Lanza

- words by Sammy Cahn, music by Nicholas Brodszky

Be my love

For no one else can end this yearning

This need that you and you alone create

Just fill my arms

The way you've filled my dreams

The dreams that you inspire

With every sweet desire

Be my love

And with your kisses set me burning

One kiss is all I need to seal my fate

And hand in hand

We'll find love's promised land

There'll be no one but you for me

Eternally

If you will be my love

We skipped the light fandango

And turned cartwheels across the floor

I was feeling kind of seasick

But the crowd called out for more

The room was humming harder

As the ceiling flew away

When we called out for another drink

The waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later

As the miller told his tale

That her face at first just ghostly

Turned a whiter shade of pale

She said "There is no reason,

And the truth is plain to see"

But I wandered through my playing cards

And would not let her be

One of sixteen vestal virgins

Who were leaving for the coast

And although my eyes were open

They might just as well have been closed

And so it was that later

As the miller told his tale

That her face at first just ghostly

Turned a whiter shade of pale
