A difference of Opinion

Recommended Posts

Not quite as interesting when the bashing turns to *your* govenment and Country, is it? In fact, it is quite unpleasant at times.....eh?

No need for any country bashing. I would say it is time to close this thread.

The point of my post is, that the thread had been hijacked.

If you must "quote" me, use all the quote, not just the bits that suit you.

He's correct. The original intention of this thread was not about government-sponsored ID cards or the government of England, and even I didn't help it. Let's bring this back on track now. I'm leaving it open for the time being though.

Exactly what words of yours did I not quote properly?

Regardless, as I said, time for this thread to be locked. It is on a downward spiral as country and government bashing serves no useful purpose.

I'm American and cannot stand Dubya.

I understand.

Not true. A healthy debate can be very useful. It allows for people to express their views and opinions and is very healthy for the mind. It also allows for certian conflicts to be resolved.

I understand.

Hmmm... what's that? I expressed my views and I defended them. I see nothing wrong with that. If you do, feel free to PM me with your concerns.

This thread got a little OT, but will be brought back on topic - I hence have no reason to close it except per your request and your not the OP.

What is all this dross about? The original post was about the USA and Bush.

The original thread has been hijacked.

Posts on this forum frequently wonder off topic, but can usually be guided back on track fairly easily. If you find the thought of being 'Hijacked' that irritating, then I think you'll find some of us here quite annoying as while we're not averse to sounding off about our own pet hates we don't generally take it that seriously.

:flowers:

It's nothing personal.

Change the record, it's becoming boring reading the same old rubbish about Labour. The Tories lost the election. No matter how much puerile drivel you want to post, it will not change the result

With only 25% of the eligible electorate voting for him , and labour getting 60,000 overall less votes than the conservatives ..... .nah ....why should the majority who didn't want Blair in ...be told to shut up , because its a bit "boring "

.... Just gloss it over I guess ...? ....

If your bored with the post Dueces , then dont bother reading , or adding to it it ....... its simply up to you ..... not a reason to force closure ..... In any case Catgate started it with a gleam in his eye....! ,and I'm sure hes been amused .....

If only this amount of energy could be put into getting rid of all political parties and bringing in REAL democracy (both here and over there) we would all be much better off (but probably bored)!

Edit....I spelled 'would' as 'wqould' (finger trouble). If I had not changed it someone would have started a furious debate about senile dementure and euthanasia

My CURRENT MSN name:

Liberal=Greedy...Conservative=Moron...Bloq=le idiots...NDP=Crazy...Green Party=?...Looks like I'm voting Anarchy!

(Of course, referring to Canadian Government)

Back on topic....

I have seen many bad things happen since Bush has been in power. I cannot blame him for any of it, because I am not a political person and do not know any of the facts. I do however know that he is VERY religious, and from what I have seen he is letting his religion take him over.

I know I am going off topic, but I have a point... And I also dont mean to offend anyone.

People who follow a religion, cult, posse, however you want to say it, faithfully are A LOT more likely to be closed minded to the views and opinions of other people and other religions.

Bush is very religious, and therefore I believe very closed minded. I would NEVER want someone like that to control my country. This type of thing will either put us in a social hole, or possibly move us backwards. Free thinking and open mindedness will only move us forward.

a religion

Wow! Now you have started something!!

I shall say very little at this stage other than to say that all religions were started, by well intentioned people, to control others. They were displaced by those who saw that the controllers became top dogs, and thus were able to live lives of idleness and luxury. Political parties were started by people who also wanted to be in control. Today there is no difference between them. Both lots live off the fat of the land by putting 'fear' into people and then offering salvation. The origins of the Whiggs and Tories in Stewart times is very revealing.

they could get a million processed in a year

That would hardy be enough to keep pace with the asylum seekers they let in!

Maybe not exactly asylum seekers but...

I heard today on the radio ( Radio 2 ) that the number of East European migrants that entered the UK since the expansion of the EU was 13 times greater than that put out by the by the Greasy Smirker.

Unfortunately I cannot find any link on the Beeb website.

I don't know why the Labour supporters have got so uptight. Is this a bit of b'liar rubbing off on them? Let's stifle all opposition even though a quirk in the electoral system gave the minority the rights to run the so called government. I think it is pretty clear that the majority on the forum have no time for that smarm in the Whitehouse, or his pal in No. 10.

Why has the title of the thread been changed?

I think it is pretty clear that the majority on the forum have no time for that smarm in the Whitehouse, or his pal in No. 10.

Not the majority at all. Only the few disgruntled Tories that post in here or in the Lounge. Out of 2400+ members, these few cannot be called the majority.

Let's stifle all opposition even though a quirk in the electoral system gave the minority the rights to run the so called government.

Lets have proportional representation then. :D

I don't know why the Labour supporters have got so uptight.

You should read some of your own posts from after the election to see who is really uptight. :D

Yes.  Let's get back to the unilateral scrapping of the treaties.

Who changed the topic in the first place?

I agree fully with you. Unfortunately his best pal is also running this country down to the dogs. The latest imposition is another bill to go before Parliament to introduce compulsory I.D.cards. I have NO problem personally in being asked to carry an I.D.card, but object strongly to the suggestion that i will have to pay for the privilege. A figure of £80 is being suggested. As I see it this is another gordon brown scheme to raise revenue. Note the gordon brown without capital letters, he is not worthy.

Couldn't have said it better myself. One thing to add though... Who will police the police? or in this case, govern the government... ?

putting 'fear' into people and then offering salvation

 What do you expect them to do... offer lower taxes? I don't think the government likes taking pay cuts.. just dishing them out.

Back to Bush...

What would make people remember you more?....

A 1.5% tax cut over 7 years, or taking over a country in 3? :ninja:
