Had a lovely (?) time in north Yorkshire. Soo green oop there - and SO wet!!!

Came home a day early - had one dry day - friday - so thought we'd better pack up the caravan awning while it was dry. Actually, saturday looked like it would be nice too but there was a heavy mist over the sea and moors.

I'm sure the scenery would have been wonderful, if only we could have seen it! :(

Two really good days - a ride on the steam train from Pickering and a day at Eden Camp - a place with lots of huts with set pieces and loads of memorabilia of WW2. Lots of school parties at that place, around 8-9 year olds. One funny little incident with them was the teacher telling the group 'you HAVE to try to do a wee before getting on the coach!' - 'I can't, miss' - 'You HAVE to!!' Teacher power!! :D

PS - We have been to Yorkshire before so I know it's a beautiful place really.

Off to Bath on thursday until Sunday.

Welcome home!

Well hey up and si thi. It's cos of all t' wet as we av all t' green. The Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorks. Moors are over abundantly supplied with wet stuff. It's part of the perversity of modern life that the tourists are persuaded to go to the wet areas, or alternatively the congested areas. If both can be achieved simultaniously I think the planners get some sort of "Lifetime Folly Award".

We lived over in the Dales area, until we started getting webbed feet, and then decided enough was enough. So we sold up and came over to the Vale of York. The met. office told me that it was in a strip of land (stretching from mid Cambs northwards through Lincs.) that was the second driest in all of Olde Angleland..and so it has proved to be.

Never thought I could get fed up with the Hot dry stuff but I can't get my grass seed to grow in it. :D

Glad you enjoyed the proper train ride from Pickering, great Scenery.
