deuces wild
.........corn on the cob? This should be interesting. I love locally grown corn on the cob. It has been in season for the past several weeks. We generally husk it then boil it but may cook it on the grill (with husk and soaked in water). Add some butter and salt and you are in heaven.I eat mine going across the cob....the only way to eat corn on the cob. B) Nw some folks eat theirs up and down, rolling the cob as they go along. I wish they would learn how to eat corn.
doug
Here, in the UK, we reserve corn for very old jokes.
deuces wild
Same here...............corny.We also have a saying...."See you tomorrow, like corn". So how do you eat your corn on the cob Doug? Are you a rounder or acrosser?
doug
Last time I eat corn was nineteen hundred and something or other. I think it was across with molten butter running down my chin.
-pops-
Microwaved still in its green sheaths or baked in the oven in the same state.Eaten carefully. No butter as I'm lactose intolerant and even the small amounts in butter (and margarine) produce undesirable reactions.
deuces wild
But......do you eat across the cob, then move down to a new row or go round and round with it?Jeesh, no one is willing to admit the way they eat corn. :D Must be secret information. :ninja: Or perhaps (most likely) I did not state the main question correctly. It is: Do you eat your corn on the cob going across the cob or just chomping down and around and around?Secondary question: How do you cook it? :flowers: :D
scuzzman
Given our proximity to each other DW, it should come as no suprise our corn habits are the same

-pops-
I start at the base of the cob where the grains are largest in order to get a grip or purchase on the remainder. When a few grains have been removed I then go more or less round and round in a spiral until I reach the other end. With corn, I am always reminded of someone I worked with many years ago who scrumped (i.e. stole) hundreds of (what he thought was) heads of sweetcorn from a field. It was only after he's prepared and frozen all of these that he found out that what he had scrumped was hard maize intended for poultry feed. Totally inedible as a vegetable. artist
I like the frozen cobs better than the fresh. Usually cooked on the BBQ basted with my bbq sauce. Hubby eats his along the rows going around - I shave mine with a sharp knife - I just hate all those bits in my teeth!Lovely!! :)

joysness
oooooI love fresh corn on the cob. (Used to call it cob on the corn when I was a kid  )Picked fresh, then husked and boiled with a pinch of sugar ( my dad taught me that, makes the corn even more tender). Then lots of butter and a little salt.I eat mine in a combination of around and across.I start at the fat end and go around once, then head across to the skinny end. Then back the the fat end and around then across and from about the middle it's all the way across. :P That detailed enough DW? :D :flowers:

Tony
I boil it fresh,Then lot's of butter, a little salt. Then start at the fat end and eat across to the thin end, normally taking 3 rows of corn out, then rotate it for the next 3 rows. When we have a BBQ/grill i always wrap some corn in tin foil and either put it on the grill or just chuck them in the coals for 10 mins.Once eaten i then get the tooth picks out. :)Tony
