Well after struggling through the morass that is Onetel's Help desk I am up and running (I think) with their 2G capped BB.My query is... do I have to worry about the amount I download? It seems to me that 2G is an enormous amount just for data downloads and should suffice for even the most avid downloader, but I was wondering if the temp files created by viewing webpages (such as dredging through NP) could be counted towards this total.Has anyone got any experience of this? catgate Posted July 26, 2005 Author Report Share Posted July 26, 2005 I doubt whether you will need to worry unless you download a load of pop rubbishThat was my original thought when I signed up, but since then I have realised what a load of sharks these ISP are (probably trained in the Inland Revenue or maybe the Treasury) and I can quite see getting an "overload charge" of monstrous proportions if I use it too much. I have no doubt that there will be no warning system. I suspect that the "whizz bang" speed novelty of the thing, compared to my old 2.2 Kb (with a following wind), could precipitate my using it "carelessly" for a couple of weeks until the novelty wears off. I could not find a help file amongst its bits and pieces (but I might not have looked in the right place) but I shall have another look when I feel more adventurous. I use the Internet a lot (although not for pop/film downloads but I do download BBC radio) and I've never had any problem. When I was upgraded to 2Mb, BT did a survey of my usage and told me that 2GB was more than adequate for my needs BUT if I felt I needed even more, they could offer that (for a fee). BUT I don't download music files, though I do search for video clips which amuse me. Every action adds bytes, up and downloading.Like Mark2, I use Tautology Bandwidth Meter, which I understand works with W98 onwards, and by hovering the mouse over the icon in the system tray it will give me that moments monthly usage.
