Comedy Legend Ronnie Barker Dies

I had just posted the same story in another thread. So I have now deleted it and below is what I had to say.

This is a very sad day for all lovers of true comedy. Ronnie Barker was one of the worlds best character actors ever. Unfortunately for us all he has died at the age of 76. At home we never miss a re-run of his old programmes on UK TV Gold. Who could fail to laugh at Fletch in Porridge, or Arkwright in Open all hours. He will be sadly missed.

I used to love watching him in both his roles as Arkwright and Fletch and also in The Two Ronnies.

Although all these shows are old now they are still classics in my opinion and it is a great shame to hear of his death :(

Porridge was/is excellent, but Open all hours never failed to make me laugh, and of course introduced us all to the unforgettable Dell boy! Sad day. :(

Wonderful man. :)

David Jason actually started out in a spoof type spy series on TV, can't remember what it was called but it was obvious then he was a star in the making.

Did anyone else watch the tribute to Ronnie last night on BBC 1 after the news? Obviously a well loved character.

No, I missed it but I bet Christopher Biggins was on!

Thos.

He was, and so was almost everyone else.

Biggins would turn up for the striking of a match, so desperate is he to be kept in the public mind.

The fat old queen was on the Paul O'Grady show instead.

If anyone is interested, there's a showing of Porridge tonight on BBC2 at 7.40 pm.

I'll be watching it.

p.s. I know it's a repeat and has probably been seen before but they are still classics (IMHO they are anyway).

Every one's a gem :)
